Ian, tried many ways to get in touch with you, thought I'd try this one. Crash site in Germany recovered 4 Merlin XXs plus lots of other large pieces. a 77 Sqn Halifax. remains of one crew member also found, could be the pilot. Awaiting photographs. Are you interested, 'cause Elvington isn't ?

crashed Halifax in Datteln, Germany

July 9 2005, 8:08 PM

hi,
i think you wrote about the plane from Datteln/Germany. We found the JD413 from the 77. Sqd. In the plane we found (possibly) the pilot Flt. Wilson (RAAF, we found his recognition-sign between the skeleton) but is not sure yet. The Australians will made a forensic test. The Australien Embassy in Germany will give me the result information. I can write again if you interested.
Sorry for my bad english.

best regards
