Hi everyone, I wonder if anyone out there can help me? I am about to commence construction on a small-scale model of HR727, a Mk.II. I understand she was involved in various rudder experiments before going to 51 Squadron. However, I have been unable to determine what type of nose she had (was it the 'Tollerton nose', the early version with turret, or the Mk.III - type?)
Over to you experts...

Many Thanks in advance,

Don

Not positive ...

but I believe HR 727 was constructed in or about Mar - Jul of '43 and was one of 152 Halifax B/GR Mk. 2 series 1 which featured and sported the factory installed Tollerton fairings.

The Mk. II did have the Boulton Paul nose turrent but the series 1 had the Tollerton mod.

Someone with more extensive Halifax files should be able to confirm this hopefully.

Thanks everyone for your input!

I too believe that the aircraft had the factory - installed 'Tollerton Nose', and my model is being constructed as this version.
However, just in case, the model will be convertible...
