I have read a very interesting story on BBC WW2 site. It was written by LAC 1737663 Alan Chapman who serviced aircraft at 10 Squadron Melbourne. One item in his story relates to a Halifax G for George returning from a raid in 1944 when it reached dispersal a request from the armourer to open the bomb doors ended with a bomb falling out on to the ground, fortunately it did not explode does anyone know if this aircraft was Halifax LV825G

I have no further information on this item but it wasn't an isolated case as it happened frequently that hung up or not fully released bombs were lying on closed bomb doors. This gave the armoureres a fright when opening the bomb doors.
