Does anyone know how to contact the owner/manager of the "Lost Bombers" website as mentioned in previous forum streams? http://www.lostbombers.co.uk/

The entry for one Halifax shot down (killing all crew except my father) has a factual error.

I would like to have this error corrected. I would also like to identify the source of the original information and have it corrected too. From other forum comments, it appears that Chorley's info may have been used, but the error did not originate from there.

Emails to the contact address on the website remain unanswered, although automatic delivery receipts indicate that they are getting delivered.

Tried the BomberCrew.com website and it's forum as you suggested.

It also has Forum contributors who have found errors in the "Lostbombers" website, as well as lack of reply from the owner.

I don't mean to denigrate the website - obviously a lot of work has gone into it - I just want to get my Dad's info corrected.

The gentleman responsible for the Lostbombers website is, I understand, quite elderly and currently not in very good health.  You may be able to find out more by posting on this link in the Planetalf forum http://forum.planetalk.net/viewtopic.php?t=3461 as it seems one of the members there has regular contact with the Lostbombers webmaster.

Could I also ask that you use a name when you post here please, either fill it in when you write your reply in the box that says 'Your Name' or write it at the end of your posting so we know who we are helping.  We're a friendly bunch

Regards

Linzee

Dubious web site

I do not recommend the site you mention (Lost Bombers) for the following reasons.

1. A great deal of this web site's material is practically word for word the same as Bill Chorley's Bomber command losses. (for some reason!)

2. He does not state who he is, or name his sources.

3. When I wrote to this person, asking who he was and what his sources were. He did not reply. The same was true of Mr Chorley's attempts to contact him.

4. The only source he quotes is Middlebrook and everyone knows Middlebrook does not include information about individual losses, crash loctaions and night fighter claimants, in B.C. War diaries.

5. The errors in Bill's books are exactly the same in lost Bombers web site.
