Hello,
Have always enjoyed browsing RAF/RCAF Bomber Group sites searching for any info on 434 squadron and related material. Well over the past 5 years have accumulated enough data to create my own 434 Bluenose Squadron site, it is now online and will be expanding considerably over the months to come.

Visit http://rcaf434squadron.squarespace.com/welcome/

There is still a lot of work to do, but feel free to come and browse the Galleries.

Cheer’s, Alan

Bluenose Squadron

Dear Alan:

Congrats on your website of #434, and look forward to more about it. Do you have anything about the Chester McClure crew? I was the Bomb-Aimer and we joined #434 early December of 1943. We did one really hairy cross-country on Dec.12th over Wales, where 'George' went crazy, and we were hit by lightening, both. Then a few days later, Chester went to Mannheim as a Second Dickie, and never came back.

So, we went to Dishforth for a new Skipper, and never did an op on #434. He took us to #419.

I am just 300 KM south of you (Calgary) and we have several 434 Vets in our Aircrew Association branch.

John

Hi John,
I have information on a number of crews, however nothing on McClure crew other then assigned crew number. I am in process of converting a excell spreadsheet into Adobe pdf along with a few other spread sheets for a future data file. These will be online shortly.
I have not been to Calgary in a few years, I'll send you an email later.
Alan

A fantastic website, a real tribute to those who were based up 'ere in t'north. Well done, something I would like to do for 578 Squadron at Burn but wouldn't know how to start. Any pointers?

434 website & where to begin...

May 5 2007, 8:55 PM

Hi Darren,
I had very little experience with website design, and Frontpage was too difficult. A friend recommended squarespace.com It is the little logo on the bottom right corner of my site.
With squarespace it is an online web building site, no downloads. They have all templates and configurations, password etc... you only upload material into your space/design.
30 day free version, then subscribe. I pay $7 a month to use thier software online, including host/server.
Hope this helps.
Alan
