I apologise if this question has been asked before, but could anyone furnish me with the following 1. What if any codes were carried by the aircraft of 1666 RCAF HCU 2.If possible match code letter to individual aircraft serial no.3 Did these aircraft carry standard Bomber Command night camouflage colours. The reason I ask is that I spent this summer holiday on the camp site at Wombleton and read the article about the memorial at the top of the approach road to the camp,as a modeller I would like to add an accurate model of one of this units aircraft to my collection .any help would be most appreciated

The codes carried by No. 1666 HCU a/c were

ND- (Examples - Halifax II DT689 ND-K, Lancaster III PB578 ND-R)

QY- (Examples)- Halifax II JD-212 QY-H, Lancaster I QY-Z)

As for colours - these would most likely be those worn by whichever unit the aircraft had previously serviced with. From 20/11/44, No. 1666 HCU became No. 1666 (RCAF) HCU

Cheers

Eddie
