Does anyone out there have any pictures of this aircraft known as 'Vera the Virgin; Iam the nephew of the flight engineer F/O Haroll Mock killed when they crashed returning from Mainz. The aircraft went in vertically in Norfolk near the town of Diss. The Pilot F/O P McBrinn and one other both Canadians also perished.

We only have a very low grade photo of Haroll and feel that there must be some sqn pictures of him and his crew out there somewhere? Any help would be much appreciated.

I'm trying to find a photo of LK789 MP-L of 76 Squadron but with no luck?

Hi Mike

You can find a colour picture of LK789, MP-L on this website:

Click on the small picture in the top right corner for a (very) large version.

Hi Tim, I am the grandson of Ronald Wheatley who was onboard that night.

I know very little of his flying career as he is very reluctant to talk about the bad times. He was a navigator but on that night was

said to be a gunner? I think he had a rough time afterward and so this maye be part of his reluctance to say more.

He has said that he was moved to a Canadian squadron due to their losses when previously flying Stirlings.

My grandmother remembers some of the crew and the times at RAF Riccal and the other local bases which Riccal was a satellite of.

There are photos in the loft but I do not think these will come out for a little while longer.

Any info appreciated

Kind regards.
