of messing around with 400s, not a heck of a lot. And, it was quite a while ago, when there weren't as many options available for them as there are now. From my limited experience with good running 400s, I certainly would be using frame connectors, and whatever other stiffeners are practical, which you may already have. In these days of strokers everywhere, it's no news, but all that torque sure was hard on my friend's '67 'Stang and my '72 Torino.
Outside of the height of the engine, and possible difficulty getting headers to fit, I don't see much downside to the swap as compared to a stroker C or W. And you would certainly have an uncommon combo, as you said.
