November 10 2003, 7:09 AM

i just bought a dynamic c4 tranny + TCT converter... have yet to put them in(spent last weekend wrestling the c6 out...) What did you have done to your c4/converter, and how do you like it?

TCT converter feels good, only trouble was tight end play (too long oil pump tube)
Dynamic trans is not so good what i was hoping.First
one tailhousing bolt was loose, brake solenoid almost
drop on the track (now i have selfmade fastener)
and after 36 run, high clutch plates was worn out,but that may be caused by third gear burn outs, will try second gear next season.
Anyway it shifts pretty FAST !

Clutches

From my experiance, high gear burnouts don't hurt the transmission. I always did mine in high gear (still do even wiht the little borrowed motor in the car.) I do start the tires spinning in second, but I shift into high almost right away. I have put upwards of 400 passes on my C4 doing my burnouts that way without hurting anything. And back then I was driving a 3500 lb car that ran low 6.80's in the 1/8. Now my car weighs 2845 w/50 lbs of ballast (have added as much as another 100 lbs of ballast to make it hook in hot weather) and runs mid-high 6.30's on a regular basis (low 6.40's with the extra ballast) and I was still doing burnouts the same way till that motor broke. I would be more suspect of the quality of clutches (when I bought my c4 from Transking it had junk clutches in it,) the clearances they were set up with, or the pump pressure than the high gear burnouts.
