Look this over and tell me what you think. The items I'm not sure about are the carb and cam. I've heard bad things about the hyd. roller conversions after I bought it. Is that carb too big?

72 .030 over block w/ stock stroke .010-.010
Main studs
TRW flat tops
Shot peened and polished rods w/ARP bolts
CC 304HR cam 245 dur. @ .050, .612 lift
4V closed chamber heads gasket matched, polished exhaust ports and chambers, 62.3cc chambers
SS valves, 10 deg locks
Rocker Studs and guide plates w/ roller rockers
Torker w/ 930cfm BG carb
MSD distributor and 6AL box

This is still in pieces, so changes can be made.

What bad things about the cam?

November 13 2003, 6:13 PM

I am running the same cam. The only problem I had with it was that the cam gear kept eating the dizzy gears up. Not sure what totally caused it but I'm going with a MME custom roller now. But as for the comp rollers, only thing bad I've heard is the gear.

That's what I was talking about. What kind of gears did you try?

I think you would get much better play with a smaller carb

A 950 on a torker on a stock stroke street 351c is nothing short of HUGE. I think you would get petter overall performance from a 750 setup.

and a windage tray.
I feel that your cam lift is very agressive, and will wear out fairly quickly. Street 4V's have plenty of breathing and don't realy need that much duration either. Whats your intended usage.
The carb sizing is on the very large size and would only really function on a very high reving 351C in a light race car. You want to be under 830 cfm with a quality carb. I suspect your static C.R. is a touch high and would think about a very mild dish of about 10cc total.
