...I admit this old combo probably won't help anyone, if you can use it fine, if not that's OK too. This was before low cost stroker cranks & "H" beam rods were every where. I didn't have the funds to offset grind the crank for chevy rods, so I did like a lot of people and just used stock rods.
**Block: "Nothing special" 2 bolt block,"generic" grout block filler from Reher Morrison filled to 1.25"-1.30" down from deck surface, masonary bit to drill new water pump passages through grout up to deck, line bore mains, ARP 2 bolt studs, cam & lifter oil restricters, fittings & hard line with a .020"-.025" hole to pressure feed/spray back side of dist/cam gears, bored +.030" & honed to mirror finish, decked & cut for "O" rings.
**Crank: Ext.balance, ground 10/10, ATI balancer.
**Rods: Regular DOAE-A rods, polished beams, re-sized, small end floated(honed "loose", not bushed),ARP rod bolts.
**Pistons: Generic +.030" 12.5 to 1 TRW's # L-2348(I think), extra oil drain holes drilled in oil ring grove above the wrist pin bosses, piston/wall clearance= TRW spec's +.002" for grout & nitrous, sharp corners rounded & smoothed, Speed Pro moly inlaied rings, piston .005" "down the hole".
**Heads: Standard 4 bbl closed chamber, rocker pedestals milled for ARP studs, S.S. valves(2.19/1.71), tit. retainers(10*), Isky springs, int.port=pocket/bowel work & roughed up finish. ex. port= pocket/bowel work & opened up, boss around guide removed, polished finish, combust.chamber smoothed & polished, milled to aprox. 57-58 cc's(I think), bronze guides("tight" with no seals), moroso stud girdle & valve covers, gold Crane roller rockers, .040" copper head gaskets.
**Cam: Crane "oval track" grind # cra-521421 .639"/296*/260*@.050(lots of low end for It's day), cheapest double row chain installed straight up,aprox.075" valve/piston clearance(scary).
**Intake: Holley Strip dominator with 2" 850 & dom. spacers, ported to have a anti-revisionary step at cyl. head.
**Carbs: Holley 850 & 1150 dom.
**Ignition: Unilite & hi-fire box, nitrous= 28*-32* total, n/a=38*.
**Oil stuff: Melling pump, moroso 100# spring(minus 1 coil), home made front sump pan, 10-30wt valvoline, cold=90lbs, warmed up & ready=75-80lbs, HOT on return road at idle=45-50lbs.
**Cooling: Weiand pump/stock pulley & small pulley on crank.
**Exhast: Hooker super comps(I think 2.0" primarys).
I'm sure I forgot some stuff, but this combo was in a '70 Ranchero, FMX trans,3500 stall, 28"x11.5"x15" firestones, 5.67 & 5.14 gears, roll bar, connecters, cheap crappy ladder bars, aprox. 3700lbs(hood was over 100lbs).
**Best 1/8 mile ET "motor"=...7.70sec w/850...7.90 w/ 1150(lazy)
**Best 1/8 mile ET "nitrous"=..6.90sec w/850...6.70 w/1150
While this combo can't compair to the "team 335" entry, it was a fun & cheap "nitrous pig" to play with on T&T nights at the track....DAVID.
EDIT: Listed gears was "4.56 & 5.14", now corrected to read "5.67 & 5.14".
