heck of a sleeper

Being lowered and with the Bassett(?) type wheels does not tell the full story on that pony. Can't wait to see some more video of it, on a little more open roadway. Hell of a job. Kudos.

Wow ! That's an impre$$ive list of go fast goodies . I did notice that something is missing . The words Detroit Locker , traction-loc , or even the lowly equa-loc .
It brings back memories of my first Mustang . A '69 Mach I with 428-CJ and open differential . I smoked up three G60-15s in the first month , all on the right rear . But that was 1971 and Uniroyals were cheap .
Well done , Ben . Thanks for sharing .

Poor Mans Locker

There was an article about a poor mans locker awhile back. What you did was take an open rear end and add an extra stock shim to each spider gear. It still allows the axles to turn at different speeds but gave you a positive two wheel peel.

Thanks for the comments guys

I appreciate it! I know it needs a new diff badly. I could do the poor man's locker, but I really don't mind the open diff for now. From a roll it still hooks fine with the 4-link and big mickeys, provided the roads aren't covered in sand like they usually are. I'm planning on just saving up about a grand and buyin a nice 3rd member.. upgraded case and pinion support, some lower gears(probably 3.0 or 3.25s), and a good limited slip. I'd like to keep it streetable. Right now its not bad, but it revs up way too high goin over 50mph. At 60 its at nearly 4000rpm, I'm gonna try switchin trans fluids to bring the stall down a bit. I really need a new steering box, I'm tired of dancing with this one.
Oh, and those wheels are Cragar Soft 8s, about $200 for the set of 4 at Summit. I got them cuz they're cheap and I think they look pretty slick, in a sleeperish kinda way.
There are some fairly pricey parts in there, but most of the stuff I got for cheap off ebay or swap meets or whatever. The turbo was under $400 from a poorly listed ebay auction, thats about $1,000 off list price. The custom JEs came from ebay too, $350 for em. Rods are china knock off Eagle rods, around $300 for the set. Probably the thing that set me back the most besides machine work was the fuel system. Fittings and pumps and filters add up fast.
