Tim, most engines produce max power when a/f ratio is around 12-12.5...inotherwords, on the rich side.

Usually 12.7 to 13.2 for max power with normal unleaded, but do to uneven ratios between cylinders (especially carburators) and reading an average between 4 ports with one O2 (typical), its safer to stick with a richer number.

Racing fuel usually has a higher stoic number, around 15.1 to 1 verse 14.7 to 1 for normal unleaded fuel.
