I heard Barrie won 3-0. Looks like dushene was absolutely no impact. |

Maybe without him it might have been 7-0 for Barrie. Thats why he makes a difference and thats why hes going 1st round. |

"Maybe without him it might have been 7-0 for Barrie. Thats why he makes a difference and thats why hes going 1st round."
The only reason it was not 7 zip was due ot missed opportunites by Barrie. Duchene is quite talented but, he really had no impact in this game....maybe he will have better luck next game...

He only has impact versus the North Central, Markham, Oshawa, Claringtons etc....the weakers teams, heck anybody looks good against them.
He has no impact versus the stronger teams, Whitby, Barrie, York Simcoe, thats why you won't see him score 3 against these teams. Look a little deeper.
He scores as many as he is on for + he plays every other shift. He should be racking up the points when you get twice as much ice as all the other players. Hes on the ice for as many as he scores, if not more. He sits at the red line, waiting for the pass out.
If that style of play is what you classify as a fab player, than I guess he is.
I think Barrie shut him down, cause they can. There is a little more depth on that team than you think. Solid goaltending and a extremely strong back end.
Would a Barrie parent like to comment?

Guess he had no impact against Peterborough, which finished ahead of Central. He scored 11 of Central's 20 goals in 4 games, including 5 in the first game. Probably assisted on most of the others as well.

It is only 1 game, we will see in the next 2. I would think this will not be a sweep. |

we will see... central has to go to barrie's home rink back to back where they are undefeated at home all year... |

Yeh, thats my point, no impact versus the WEEKER teams. He should be scoring those kind of numbers aginst Pete, and with the amount of ice time he logs.
No impact vs Barrie - stronger team
Impact vs Pete - weeker team
What didn't you understand?
Yes, it will be a sweep. One guy isn't gonna win it for Central Ontario. |

What didn't YOU understand?? Peterborough finished in 2nd place on their side, with more points than 9 of the 11 other teams in the league. They were not one of the bottom dwellers or even one of the "weaker teams".
What's your point anyway? That Duchene isn't one of the top players unless he scores a hat trick against Barrie? That Central would be better off without him?
Give it up.

What do you care what my point is? I could give two ***** about Barrie.
Read it again Einstein and maybe you will figure it out.
Does WEAK LOOP ring any bells for you. Peterborough 2nd in the loop, who'd you beat to get to 2nd? Clarington, quinte, Oshawa, I guess you rose to the challenge eh?
Barrie is superior talent to Peterborough, end of story. |

Can anyone name just ONE Barrie player that will be drafted ahead of Duchene? I know the speculation is that Matt will go south the Michigan State, but he will be drafted. I've only seen Matt play a few times so my opinion may be skewed, but he is a very talented player. Put him on a team with players equal to his ability and watch him shine. The criticism of this young man is not warranted. He is a loyal kid as he did have opportunities to skip out on Central Ontario for the GTHL, but he chose not to. So, he's not selfish, he's talented and he is pretty much going to have a choice of where he plays hockey in the future: OHL or NCAA. How many kids can you say that about? Say what you want about him but he will have the last laugh! |

Anonymous (no login) 70.54.53.81 | Re: Game # 2 | March 7 2007, 2:01 PM |
So how many times have you seen ANY Barrie players play?
This isn't about Dushene. This is about Barrie shutting down your wonder boy, so don't switch the topic. It wasn't about him, the draft or his draft position.
You've ONLY seen him a couple of times and yet you are an EXPERT on him and the Barrie players. Or the lack of.
Stop listening to all the hype, and watch the game if you know anything about hockey, that is and oh yes if you have a brain to allow you to make your own conclusion based on what you see and not what you HEAR!!!
For the record, I don't give two ***** about Barrie.
Like I said
Whitby will take it in three and Barrie will take Dushene in three, or should I say Central Ontario. |

Relax . . . .Take a look at the previous posts and tell me there was no 'bashing' of Duchene. His team may very well lose in three or four or five . . . Personally I don't care either. His team will not win the ETA or OMHA but the fact is he is probably the best player in the ETA. I've seen Barrie play, at the Marlies Tournament, and I wasn't all that impressed. I thought Whitby looked the best of all the ETA teams and their record shows that. The OMHA's are in a couple of weeks so I guess the boys from Barrie can prove their worth there. As I said, Duchene has nothing to prove to anyone who decides to take cheap shots at him.

Anonymous (no login) 74.108.103.55 | Re: Game # 2 | March 7 2007, 5:32 PM |
It is fairly easy for a well-balanced, well-coached team to shut down even a great player if they don't have to worry about any of his teammates stepping up to take over.
That's no knock on Duchene's teammates. They work hard, but as a group they are not close in skill to teams like Barrie or Whitby. If Central makes it to the OMHA's (by beating A-P in the showdown), they will have by far the fewest players drafted (one, MAYBE two) of any of the five teams there.
Duchene has probably scored or assisted on over 70% of his team's goals this season. To suggest he is not a great player because a first place team like Barrie can shut him down (although I hear he had 2 points last night) is just stupid.

Anonymous (no login) 70.54.53.81 | Re: Game # 2 | March 7 2007, 6:06 PM |
NO he didn't have 2 points last night.
I don't care what you think about Barrie. Barrie standings and record speaks for itself. Bash Barrie all you want. Whatever makes you feel good.
Its knobs like you.......Blah, Blah, Blah, Thank you Mr. Hockey God.
Your verbal diarhea and stupidity is astounding. You have seen both teams so much that you can come up with all those stellar and accurate conclusions. According to you anyways.
Like it was said before make a decision based on what you actually see and not hear. Take in a few more games, you might be amazed at what a hockey game REALLY looks like.
But, I won't waste my breath because I know in the end YOU must be right, because you have seen Central Ontario and Barrie play how many times?

It is obvious to anyone who is reading this thread that you are delusional. Where did I bash Barrie?
I said in my last post that Barrie can shut down a great player because they are a well-balanced, well-coached team; they are a much more skilled team than Central; and they play like a first place team.
So I will ask again: please cite the EXACT part of my post where I "bashed" Barrie. I will be happy to apologize if I did. Just like I am sure you will be happy to apologize when you come to the inevitable conclusion that you are imagining things about my posts that aren't there.

I think the implication was the three D that were on the ice go the job done. Didn't need the three off the ice.
Which three got the job done? Says alot for them. I think you'll be tested at the OMHAs Barrie

A few teams could learn o few thins.
1. Never work properly with their defencemen. They need to figure out the players they have and work within the abilities of the defence.
Its obvious the team centres around their forwards and not worrying about defence first.
2. Their star AA rated players have to start acting like AA rated players. They have to step up and work in their own ends first before worrying about offence. Why were they afraid to finish their checks?
3. Stop panicking behind the bench and when your in close games.
4. Play as a team and not as a bunch of prima donnas with big time player agents.
5. Did I say work on your defencemen and not give 'em crap every single they play shift and do what they are told?

Just have to look who is on the bench, then you will know why. HC both sides outcoached throughout both tour. | |
