Don't get too excited about those Junior A letters. They do a MASS mailing. Especially from teams in your area. Names and numbers from your organization.

Just about everybody gets one. If you don't just sign up and they mail you a prefabed letter of invite.

MONEY,MONEY,MONEY...MON EY!!!!!

There are only 2 91's allowed on each team. Probably a third of those will be taken up by sons of owners/GM's & coaches or sons of friends of owners/GMs & coaches. The remainders will most likely be taken up by high OHL draft picks who are assigned by their OHL club to their affiliates with the intention of calling them up if/when required. You will be lucky to see a handful of kids independently earn a spot on an OPJHL team.

A number of OPJHL teams will not even use up their 2 player allotment & have only 1 or zero 91's on their team. Why sign a 91 who is still wet behind the ears when you can sign an 87 man. As one coach said to me when talking about the restrictions of 16 year olds. "What makes them think I would even want 16 year olds on my team?"

You'll find that most of the mass mailing teams are the ones with historically poor records and little in the way of financial support. The better teams don't need to advertise.
