Just noticed some of the names on the u17 camp. A good 3/4 seem to be the right choices but as for the other 25% someone has to give their head a good shake. It appears that that a number of these have been chosen by daddy coaches and gm's. Surprised by the number of Vaughan Kings and Wexford players that were appointed to this camp. |

Your absolutely right. You got to question some of these picks I got to see some of these kid's play this weekend at the prospect's.What a complete joke.If I were the guy that made these selection's I would go around telling people he was a scout with the Petes. |

Guys,
Dad, coaches and GM's have nothing to do, the kid registers and pays, they go the camp and then they get cut, no biggy. |
|
Anonymous (no login) 70.52.162.112 | Re: UNder 17 | April 3 2007, 7:19 PM |
Manager, coaches have everything to do with it. They call the coaches and ask for their top whatever.
They receive hundreds of applications. Your telling me they see 200 kids play in less than three weeks to arrive at a decision like that. Your telling me they weed through all those apps in two three weeks to arrive at that. Give your head a shake.
You are trying to tell me that a HL, AE, A and AA player is a better player than a AAA player.
Your fukked.
It is a biggy. A $200.00 dollar biggy. And then a $400.00 biggy, and then more when you hit the main camp.
Ohhhh its a biggy.

Alot of these evaluators don't know much about the kids coming to these camps and their decisions are based just on the week-ends performance. There will be a number of players that will be 1st 3 round picks in the O that won't get through their sectional camps. It allways happens. Who cares, the team is picked in December and has little to do with what happens at these camps, trust me. |

I just did a quick count. How could there be more Vaughan kids than Nats, Rebels, Senators & Jr. Cdns? |

Anonymous (no login) 69.157.37.252 | Re: UNder 17 | April 4 2007, 7:41 AM |
gthl U17 camp has 4 teams, each with 18 skaters. so, 72 players.
gthl has 12 min midget aaa teams.
so, thats an average of 72 / 12 = 6 players each to the U17 camp;
Dogs have 11; Marlies have 9; makes sense; lets face it, they were the 2 best teams.
Nats only had 5; seems low for the 3rd place team, unless you know the Nats. they are built around 5 kids, who play most of the time; rest of the team plays when the 5 need a rest; so 5 for Nats is probably right.
NYR & Wings got 8 each; 2 more than "average"; Rebs only had 6; JCs, only 5; is there that much difference between these 4 teams? seems reverse of how most people would probably rank these teams; but this isn't about picking teams; they pick players.... you can argue which of these teams deserves more / less all you want... don't think you can prove one way or the other..
Sens 3, Mark 4, wex 3, DM 2; not unreasonable;
Kings 8; seems high relative to their success; however, i'm told (i'll leave it to someone else to check this) that they did much better in the last half of the season? maybe that drove their picks up?
other factors: who applied? if you don't apply you don't get picked? and whos on the selection team? and who do the coaches recommend?
U17 is no different than the draft. the very best players, all know who they are, easy to pick.... after that..... well, depends who's picking....
re: the whole money grab issue, consider this: the gthl has one 4 team camp, and only players from min midget aaa made it. the omha has what, 5 camps? with players from all levels of hockey? having AA & A players out to those camps sounds like a major $$$ grab... |
|
Anonymous (no login) 70.49.220.87 | Re: UNder 17 | April 4 2007, 7:56 AM |
So we got...
GTHL has 1 camp with 72 kids x $ 200.00 = $ 14,400.00
OMHA has 5 camps with 68 kids ( 350 kids) x $ 200.00 = $ $70,000.00
SCTA ?
Alliance ?
ODMHA?
NOHA?
Thats just for that week end. How about the week end after that, and the main one after that.
So with GTHL and OMHA alone there is 422 kids trying ti fill 20 spots for Team Ontario which as another poster said, was already decide din December. 1st and 2nd rounders and the odd 3 and 5th thrown in.
Whats to question?
As far as the OMHA goes enjoy the experience? Enjoy strutting your stuff against HL,AE,A and AA kids.

Max did the same thing the year before with the Sens. They never made the playoffs and all these player's coming out of the wood work for the U17 camp. How how is this possible, same guy doing the same thing at the Kings. What a complete joke. |

We didn't apply. Players will be picked based on the seasons they are having with their respective clubs during the early season. |

You mean to say that the King's coach is supporting his player's and helping promote them? We'll have none of that, right? Have him hung from the closest tree! |
