| A friend of mine at Hockey Canada told me that McFarland was informed within the past couple of days that he will NOT be granted exceptional status for the upcoming OHL draft. My friend did not give me a reason why not. Apparently McFarland's father, when informed, was extremely displeased.
Don't ask me for any kind of official confirmation or a link to any official announcement. Because the application is supposed to be private and confidential, the OHL can neither publicly confirm nor deny that the application was even made.

I have the official scoop! Just don't ask me to corroborate it. It sounds like a lot of hearsay! However his application being denined doesn't seem unreasonable as I don't think he is physically capable of competing at the Major Junior (OHL) level yet. |

This is exactly why I thought giving Tavares exceptional status was a bad idea. Yah, he earned it, but the league should have considered the fall out from this decision.
Now every A-hole with a son who is in the top percentile of his age group is going to think he's the next John Tavares. Mr. McFarland, pull your head out of your ass and let your son play hockey with his peers. There is plenty of time to play Junior.
And don't give me this, he's not being challenged, B.S.! If he's so fukken perfect, he'd be NHL ready. Speaking of which, even NHL players need to work on their game. He should just concentrate on doing the same next year. A-hole dad should bud the fuk out. |

AND I ain't never seen a kid that age with better puck pursuit or as heavy on it either.
If he keeps developing at the rate he is going he will surely go high in the OHL draft. What year remains to be seen. He ain't ready yet. They would kill him up there. | |
