Under 17 Camps

Clearly a joke!

Kids that should of been there, were not. And kids that were there, that shouldn't of been.

At the Collingwood camp the hockey gods were wondering why a few AAA players did not attend? Why they were not on the ice participating.

Shaking their heads at some of the ones on the ice, that were out of their element. You can't have a kid who has never played AAA take the place of a kid who has ALWAYS played AAA. NO contest.

There were 3-4 players that WILL be drafted that were not skating at Under 17, Collingwood Camp. Your telling me that HL, AE,A or AA is better than these guys. That these guys deserve to be there, and that you and they believe they have a chance to make Team Ontario.

This is supposed to be the best of the best. The cream of the crop. What AAA guys work for ALL there hockey life. Fill the rosters with AAA and then add others if you feel they might have the talent. The GTHL, Peterborough had no problem with that concept.

Heeeeelllllooooooo!

First 2 rounds baby, first 2 rounds.

....guess you don't know the story of a kid in Windsor a few years ago who attended and OMHA regional camp who was an "A" player

... or the story of another kid who attended the Fort Erie OMHA regional camp from the Thorold "A" team.

... or the story of another AA kid who attended the Peterborough regional camp.

The names?

Ed Jovanovski

Owen Nolan

Adam Foote

... it continues ever year.

AAA kids/parents get wakeup calls like this all the time!

not always the best kids are in the AAA system. For whatever reasons some players don't play AAA but still just as talented. AAA not all its cracked up to be as seen in the camps this past weekend.

Does it really matter what kids make it to the final camp. We all know when team Ontario is picked where the players are coming from so why worry about it. If you are a 16 yr old playing in the OHL next year you have a great chance to make the team. Maybe 1 or 2 guys from Tier 2. Thats it. If you made it to the final camp, enjoy the experience and take something positive out of it. If you didn't make it to the final camp but have the goods to play in the OHL next season then you will get lots of looks come selection time. Even then there will be politics with each OHL team lobbying to get their player on the team.
