I think not. 91's are turning heads through out Junior camps across Ontario. This myth obviously started by desperate 90's parents is being destroyed as I write. Scouts and Managers won't admit it but they are happy to be reaping the benefits.NHL and NCAA Scouts are already reevaluting.
Good work 91's. No surprise to me.

When a player like DeRenzis (Senators) doesn't get drafted and makes Dixie Beehives, I agree with the caption, the '91 draft was not weak. True, they didn't have big names like Stamkos, DelZotto and Pietroangelo. Notwithstanding, Ryan O'Reilly, Matthew Duchene and Cam Fowler are no slouches either. Time will tell.

Dont get too excited.

With regard to the 90s, they set a record last year for the most underage players to play in the OHL.

They also had 11 undrafted players playing in the OPJHL.

I would not ever criticise kids but I would not be too quick to ever mention the OPJHL. The league is a joke.

I wonder why you say the OPJHL is a Joke? You do know that they had the second most player drafted to the NHL of all the Tier II Junior Leagues in Canada.

The funny thing is we won't find out how strong or weak the 91 draft was until the NHL draft in 2009 or even years later. By then this 91 chat line will probably be long gone since most of the players at this age group will be out of hockey and no longer interested in this site.

So how can the 90 crop be considered strong and the 91 crop weak if the true test is how many make/stay in the NHL? Seems premature to be labelling either one...

ther r tomany teams but ther are a handful of good ones. even the ohl has usually 2 or 3 bad teams each year but ther not gonna drop the league to 16 teams or even 18. the the midwest jurior B league has 2 or 3 bad teams each year thats just how hockey works

After speaking with some of the scouts, and watching the Joe Maire, and league play. The 1991 year certainly wasn't that bad a year. For 1992 year that was suppose to be so strong it really isn't anything to write home about!

First 5 games of the OHL season and only 2 1991's make the top 40 list in OHL scoring. A number of high draftees not seeing much icetime while others have been disappointments so far. Still too early to tell.

I can only imagine who keeps bringing this 1991 weak crop up. It must be 1990 parents who are a total insane bunch. No Stamkos type players but certainly a good core that are playing JR hockey and Tier II. Go back to throwing darts at your bar instead of at the 1991 group.
