did all these players get drafted in minor midget or did they get an invite.how many 1990 players went in last years draft.

I counted 10 players that were drafted as 1990's this past year, I believe 4 were from Midget hockey. I would expect less from the 91's in the upcoming year.

There really isn't much reason to be drafting the 1st year Midgets. OHL clubs could just invite a player to their camp if they like & avoid using a draft pick. They would only need to draft him if they didn't want to let him get away & some were favours as well.

To the original poster with the list of players, a small correction, Steven McDonald of Plymouth was a 4th round pick.

What I think was really impressive were the number of 1990 (undrafted/drafted) Midget players that were invited to OHL clubs main camps. I know of at least one team that asked 2 undrafted 90 Midget players to participate in their exhibition games & they declined. Then at least 1 previously drafted Midget player accepted the follow-up invitation & is now playing.

I think the OHL clubs are happy to have some of the undrafted players return to a Jr. team or even Midget & develop more rather than watch from the stands. They can potentially call them up throughout the year.

Impressive but not as impressive as the stats coming out of the GMHL Junior A League. Six 1990 born players made OHL rosters from ONE GMHL Junior A team and seven others were also on the QMJHL rosters this season. Count the numbers that also moved onto the NCAA college ranks and other Tier 2 programs and the GMHL had a decent first season. If you are a player who will pay to play the GMHL Junior A League provides a far better training ground than any Midget program out there. All OHL GM's and coaches will tell you this.

Who were the six 90's from the GMHL in the OHL?

There aren't any that I can see, someone is blowing smoke up your ass. They think if they write it will make their league look good even if it aint true. I will say one thing for the GMHL, I did not think they would survive the season last year, but they did.
