They are fairly similar. However with that being said. I personally believe that top 3 Tier II teams would beat any Junior B team. |

Every year this question gets asked and every year people offer their two cents worth on the subject.
Tier II is the next level below Major Junior. The change came when the CHL decided to call themselves "Major Junior" instead of "Junior A".
In the east,(OPJHL) it is called junior A, in the west (Golden Horseshoe) it is called Junior B. Each of these leagues have their own championships and the level below each is Junior C.
Could a Junior B team beat a Junior A team? Probably but why does it matter? An OHA Junior C team could beat an ODHA Junior B team and visa versa. |

I don't see much difference in JrA or B, it is just a name. There are many JRA teams in the GTA and I guess since there is a bigger population in the GTA they have more kids to draw from. So yes, the St. Mikes and those type of teams who can recruit the best kids probably are better than the top JRB teams most years. But there are also some pretty terrible teams in JRA so it is probably a wash in my opinion. Whereas in the OHL most of the top end talent are the 18/19 yr old guys who have been drafted to the NHL. In Tier 2 the top end talent are the 16/17 yr old guys who are either moving to the OHL or have NCAA commitments. The 18/19/20 yr old guys in Tier 2 are generally players that couldn't make the OHL or couldn't get a scholorship and are continuing to play either for the love of the game or to keep chasing that elusive OHL spot or NCAA scholorship. So, whatever your opinion is on JRA vs JRB it is irrelevant. The OHL is where the majority of the talent resides and there is not comparison between major junior and JRA/B. |

u could make an argument that u could at a niagra divison and put the horseshoe teams ther a south division and put the wohl teams ther and mid west division team and place the mid west league ther and the opjhl would have 7 divisions. waterloo kitchener niagra st kitts london could very weel deserve a jr A team but it just so happens its jr b around ther. just because its called jr a doesnt make it better but ya probably the top jr A teams can beat the top jr b. it really depends on the money and when ppl from outside ontario see jr a they think its better than jr b so they want to go ther |

how about this, who would win between the worst opjhl A team and the worst jr B team?
Im guessing Jr A would lose |

Since players for the most part can go to any JRA or JRB team they want to, it really becomes a recruiting war. Personally, I like the atmoshpere around the JRB leagues better in terms of fan support, etc. Most JRA teams can't draw flies because they tend to be too close to the GTA. |

The top three teams in the east division of the OPJHL are Kingston, Peterborough and Wellington. All are far from the GTA and all have a history of promoting players to the next level (NCAA, CIS, Major junior etc).
Of these three Wellington has the best attendance averaging over 400 per game in an older arena.
Good hockey draws crowds and in eastern Ontario, a part of the province dotted with many small towns, attendance is very good. Last night for example in Napanee about 350 attended a junior C game. |

In actual fact the two teams that played draw a significant number of players from the Greater Kingston area which has:
1 OHL team (Frontenacs)
1 Tier II team (Voyageurs)
2 CIS Mens teams (Queens & RMC)
1 CIS Womens team (Queens)
3 Junior C teams (Napanee, Amherstview, North Frontenac)
1 ODHA team (Gananoque)
So as you can see it is not the only game in town.
