Playoff Predictions -- Round 1February 10 2008 at 11:01 AM | anonymous (no login) from IP address 74.12.14.10 |
|
Kings vs Rangers (Kings in 5) - rangers could pull off one game, but nothing else
Marlies vs Sens (Marlies in 4) - marlies are too skilled for the sens
Reps vs Majors (Reps in 6) - the reps have improved with the addition of 2 defencemen (barbieri and evely) who were sent down from junior a...but if the majors focus on defence they could pull off a couple games.
Rebels vs Wings (Rebels in 7) - too close. game #1 today could decide it. only reason i say rebels is because they have just a little bit more depth while the red wings rely on muise to carry the team.

Actually the Sens took 2 out of 3 games vs. the Marlies. At the very least it will be a good series. |

Round 1:
Kings vs Rangers (Kings in 5) - King team D too strong
Marlies vs Sens (Marlies in 5) - Sens just not as deep as Marlies
Reps vs Majors (Majors in 6) - Majors are on upswing, Reps in downswing
Rebels vs Wings (Red Wings in 6) - Wings on a roll
--
Round 2:
Kings over TRW in 6
Marlies over Majors in 7
--
Finals:
Kings over Marlies in 7 |

marlies vs sens was a great game... sens winning 4-2 with a minute left.... marlies scored a pretty good 3rd goal but a very lucky 4th goal...great game overall |

lowest goals for of the top 6 teams; and only 3 goals for ahead of nyr who finished 8th.
ga was best in the league, 22 less goals against than the marlies, who were second best; and 32 ga better than reps, rebs, and dead things. |

only 3 goals more than the 8th place rangers??? yeah but 50--fifty--again, 50! fewer goals against. compare the g-f averages--there is no comparison! |
|

my point exactly: their goals for is middle of the pack; their goals against is way ahead of everyone else |

if any one can figure out how to get past their team defense VK are done like dinner. they have great puck pursuit and defensive zone support by the F.
I think their D is average and goaltending is still in question.
also, as noted by posters above, scoring is a definite issue; and if they get behind they are in trouble
|
|
Anonymous (no login) 142.46.227.65 | Re: Playoff Predictions -- Round 1 | February 14 2008, 12:55 PM |
That is a bizarre comment.
'I think their D is average and goaltending is still in question.'
Not that big a question mark considering the GA is lower than all else by over 20, and if you check the GTHL site they've had TEN shutouts in the last 15 games played! (incl 1st playoff game). That is pretty impressive!

bizarre comment? youre being kind...
"if any one can figure out how to get past their team defense VK are done like dinner..."
"I think their D is average and goaltending is still in question."
completely contradictory and makes no sense. another hockey genius in the stands

Anonymous (no login) 70.54.119.105 | Re: Playoff Predictions -- Round 1 | February 14 2008, 2:37 PM |
let me explain so even you can understand:
the reason VK doesnt score many goals is because their forwards are very fast to get back to help out the D. This is called "team defense" and is distinctly part of sagaerts master plan
but i still think your D are average as a group.
and as much as i would like to see mcgrath succeed; neither he nor his partner has much(any??) AAA playoff experience.

"the reason VK doesnt score many goals is because their forwards are very fast to get back to help out the D. This is called "team defense" and is distinctly part of sagaerts master plan"
Let ME get this fukking straight....(Fukk)
Their forwards don't bother scoring because their game plan is to get back and help out the defence? What kinda complete fukking, retard, a$$hole are you?
"Here's the plan, boys. When you get the fukking puck in their end, turn it over.
That way you'll have time to get back and help out on defence. I call it Team Defence. Got it?"
Fukk me...you have got to be the biggest, bone-headed dikk on this site. You know even less about hockey than me, you fukking blort guzzler.
Bottom line...they're winning and it's working - and to the above anus who trys to explain why and how...shut the fukk up and stick to fukking ringette. Let's get this hapless season over and done with.
And, by the fukking way, the only other fukk-wad in history that had a fukking
Master Plan was Hitler.

The Kings have a solid core of defencemen. Their big and make good first outlet passes. Goaltending is solid as well. They don't give up many second chances. As for their forwards, they create chances but don't have one or two guy who can finish. Kings are the best all-round team and should win it all. |
|
Anonymous (no login) 70.55.214.164 | Re: Playoff Predictions -- Round 1 | February 14 2008, 8:47 PM |
God fukking help us if that's the eventual outcome!
Keep an eye on the Majors. My opinion may be worth fukk-all (I could give a fukk),
but they are more than capable of tying their way to the finals.
If you disagree....go and fukk yourself.

Majors can be dangerous on any given night I will give you that, they might not have the deepest team to carry them on a long playoff run.
Red Wings are dangerous right now as well. Similar to Markham they can be deadly, but it depends on consistency through the run.
Credit is due to the Kings but really at this point the regular season is in the past and anyone of these teams has the potential to take the title.
I see a great semifinal matchup brewing between the TRW/VK. |

Its always funny reading the VK parents on here. The VK d parents vs the VK offensive parents. The VK
defence parents led by tony and chris always putting down the offence. listen guys-your defence isn't that great. And yes the VK forwards do a lot of backchecking that helps your d out. They help them look better then they are. |

Nice try, little man, the Vaughan parents have little pukes like you to dump on, they don't do it to each other. The Vaughan parents are very happy with the way the team plays together, and with each the other parents. Keep trying you pathetic little mouse fart. (Sorry Angry Man, I know this is your job). |

rw do look good. pay for play kids are on the bench for the playoffs, and extra ice for their top players seems to be working. rebs are doing the same, but not getting the same result; problem is, rebs have too many pay for play kids to sit 'em all the time, and not enough strong talent to handle the extra ice time when the money kids are on the bench. |

i have to say if the majors can beat the reps (who were rolling during the last half of the season)...then the majors vs marlies could be a decent series.
on another note...the rebels won last night and likely have back-to-back games coming up next weekend. if they use the momentum theyve built up and win the weekend we could be looking at a game 7. |

update:
vk vs nyr: haven't seen any of this, but based on scores, 1 v 8 is turning out more interesting than usual?
reps vs mjrs: starting to look like cosmo took the wrong guys from aa?
marlies vs sens: sens fav 6 or 8 guys vs the marlies. bye bye sens.
wings vs rebs: rebs must win 3 in a row; tough job when teams are so evenly matched
|
|
Anonymous (no login) 192.75.47.13 | Re: Playoff Predictions -- Round 1 | February 21 2008, 10:14 AM |
should be two good match ups tonight:
vk vs nyr: games have been close so far; if nyr pulls off another upset tonight, series is tied, and vk jerseys start to fit a bit tighter around the collar?
reps vs mark: win by mark = 7 - 1 in points, & a big hill for the reps to climb after that
both games too close to call, but what the hell:
vk wins 3-1 (games have been close, but at the end of the day, nyr/wexford hangers on just aren't good enough)
mark wins 4-3 (too close to guess, but the momentum is strongly with mark) |
|

Sat. Feb. 23
Rebs 4 - TRW 4 Rebels will show desperation as elimination nears
VK 4 - MS 2 Kings must play like a team and move puck quickly to avoid upset |

RW have shortened bench a bit, playing aggressively and with a great deal of confidence; rebs will be desperate, yes, but good enough, no; rw 4 rebs 2
I don't believe vk can score 4 goals; but i don't think nyr can either(MS?): vk 3 nyr 1 |

Yup, all 5 games, and he has gotten better with every game. D'Orazio was out for almost 3 weeks before the playoffs started, one of the reasons the Rebels did not finish higher in the standings during the regular season. He is starting to get back in game shape, and when healthy this kid can be the best goaltender in Midget. Let's hope for the Rebels it's not to late. |
