Any OHF Midget AAA players born in 1991 or 1990 are free agents in the Central Junior Hockey League; an 11 team Jr A loop based in the Ottawa area. You are not owned by any team and despite your club system or affiliation, you are not restricted.
Member teams are the Pembroke Lumber Kings, Brockville Braves, Cornwall Colts, Nepean Raiders, Smiths Falls Bears, Kanata Stallions, Ottawa Jr Senators, Orleans Blues, Cumberland Grads, Hawkesbury Hawks and Kemptville 73's.
The league website is www.cjhl.on.ca
They play a 60 game schedule and many teams provide billeting for out of town players.
They have a higher per capita ratio of NCAA Division I scholarships than any league in Ontario.
Players like Eric O'Dell, who left the CJHL in December, have stepped in at the OHL level at 17 without missing a beat.
The camp they run is a huge opportunity for out of district players to showcase their skills, get signed for the upcoming season or get invited to team main camps..
The camp runs May 23-25 and costs $209 for 4 games and there are information seminars and team introduction sessions.
For information e-mail cjhlcamp@yahoo.com or visit the league site.
It appeared the CJ avoided signing any Kingston kids last year, unlike previous years when Mangan Rhymer etc. played. Do you think this was because Kingston split withthe ODMHA and went OMHA and there was a boycott due to bad blood? Will they do anything to attempt to attract Kingston kids this year?
The OP team does not include all of Kingston in their draw area. They are a "Kingston Township" team which is the west side of the city and does not include the city centre or the east.
