Re: OMHA FINALS IN WHITBY (SCORES)

March 21 2008, 10:44 PM

I just got back from Whitby and watched one of the worst games I have seen all season.
Oakville vs Burlington. The score was 9 - 2 for Burlington and if Oakville was the second best team out of the SCTA then WTF. NC out of the ETA west could and would have beat this team. No skill anywhere! Sorry to rain on the SCTA parade but please the quality out of both teams was brutal.
People saying that Burlington is the best team in the OMHA? Yea in a wet dream. If A/P does not put these bad boys to sleep then I give up on the OMHA.

I am still beside myself how bad this was. There are five teams in the ETA West that if they played Burlington in 6 point series would have beatin them.

Holly S*** this is suppose to be the OMHA finals, it looked like the ETA toilet bowl.

I'm done good night !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

From a Burlington parent perspective--you don't know what your talking about.

Oakville is one of the top teams in Ontario. I don't know what was with them today, they weren't themselves for whatever reason. Once the goals started going in on them (in both games) it looked like they gave up. I was shocked after the game, it's unfortunate that they're playing their worst hockey all year when it matters most. I still think that both of the SCTA teams are better than Ajax, Whitby, and Peterborough...while watching the oakville - ajax game, oakville again played terrible, not like themselves, and only lost by a goal (and an empty netter) so if that's all the best from the ETA can do when Oakville is playing terribly? Burlington will win this. I don't think you can base a whole team on one day's play, AND a whole season shouldn't be decided in tournament format...just my opinion and to everyone their own.

well i just got back from a/p and burlington game with the score tied 4-4. It was a well played game by both sides ,but i think if a/p was healty they would win.I see by the gamesheet that they have 4 minor s in the lineup and 2 more kids went down after the second period, thats why it was a tough 3rd for them.It will make a great gold medal game for tommorrow as both teams have made it already.

"From a Burlington parent perspective--you don't know what your talking about."

I am not going to get into a BS session, but unfortunately you need a reality check. I thought these teams were creme du creme. I had not even seen either play prior to this game, but frankly Oakville would not have even made the ETA West play-offs this current year and Burlington would have been either 3rd or 4th.

And no they will not beat A/P as they are not a better team. THIS IS REALITY....I do wish you the best in at least trying ......

Re: OMHA FINALS IN WHITBY (SCORES)

March 22 2008, 6:45 PM

AP and Burlington are both good, but keep in mind AP has lost a total of 4 players to junior A or OHL out of the entire 90 and 91 age groups. I don't think it is a case of them being sooooooo good (no better than 4th at anything under midget for the past 8 years) but rather other teams have been decimated by having good players making the jump to junior and AP is simply the best of the mediocre rest. They will not do much at the OHF's, have they even beaten one team in the top 4 out of the GTHL this year?

211.91 you are out to lunch. Watch, Burlington will win tomorrow, as will Oakville. Oakville beat peterborough and lost to ajax by one goal and you're saying they wouldnt make the playoffs for the ETA even though they lost to the "amazing" A/p raiders by one? You're obviously just a bitter kid on one of the other teams in the ETA who didn't make it to the championships. I bet your having fun on the golf course!

Re: OMHA FINALS IN WHITBY (SCORES)

March 23 2008, 4:54 PM

Well I did wish Burlington the best in trying. But I have to say they played a nice game today and deserved to be in the Gold Medal game. But A/P was the better team today and I have always felt they were the best team in Ontario and have been not afraid to say it.

To all you Burlington people I would just like to say you had a great year and there are several good quality players that could and should be playing Junior next year.

So now its on to the OHF's and that final will be between A/P and Sudbury.

as much as you say that ajax was the better team, i personally believe from watching the game that burlington was the better team. in overtime burlington was all over them, many good chances to win. and for a ref to call a brutal penalty in an overtime that decides a teams season is just bs to me. but wish all the best to ajax

Re: OMHA FINALS IN WHITBY (SCORES)

March 23 2008, 6:09 PM

sorry bud - watched the game and there were a number of calls either way that could have been called and some that were. The ref did not win this game or take it away from anyone. It could have gone either way.

Someone had to win - in this game A/P did. Both teams deserved to move on and unfortunately only 1 can. It easily could have been Burlington if they had taken advantage on their chances - they did not.

Burlington - you played well and are a great team. Don't lower yourself to blaming refs. Only real losers play this game.

Both teams should be proud - they are both awesome.

Great goaltending at both ends

March 23 2008, 8:00 PM

Burlington should be proud as that game could have ended either way. The Burlington goalie made an amazing save in the last 30 seconds of regulation to send it to OT. Burlington was all over AP in the first few minutes of OT. The AP goalie was equally amazing in the first few minutes of OT.
10,14 and 15 on the Burlington were fun to watch.

I would like to congratulate Ajax for proving many people wrong (including myself) and winning the gold medal. I'd also like to congratulate Burlington, a great team, for winning the silver medal. The game could have gone either way. Lastly, I'd like to congratulate Oakville for winning the bronze in a hard fought battle. All 3 of these teams are great teams, and they could all compete with the other teams travelling to the OHF's in Ottawa. It's too bad only 1 OMHA team gets to go.

give it rest people, itwas a hard fought game and only one team could win and on this day the better team was a/p. On another day it could have been burl, but it wasnt. And as far as the refs favouring the eta, it is just sour grapes from that person. So good luck to a/p and bring the trophy home to the omha.

although i dont think a hooking penalty should be called in OT it was a pretty even called game. as for the whitby coach if that is tru you should be contacting the OHF and the police because that is illegal not wasting time posting it on here

Re: Great goaltending at both ends

March 24 2008, 7:29 PM

Hi - all of us are around hockey enough to know one thing. In O/T penalties are called if there is a scoring chance that is negated by a foul. In other words if a team has a chance to score and a player is hooked, tripped, slashed which stops his chance to score, this is a penalty.

If it is not a scoring chance, these are the ones which will be overlooked.

Go through the penalties and both ways, the penalties that were called were ones which affected actual scoring chances.

That is it. Both teams had their chances, one team scored.

Time to move on and grab a towel and wipe the tear's. The BIG joke is, rumour has it, some kid's plan on going to the OFSAA finals instead of playing in any Midget AAA championships. I guess it maybe there big chance to be a big guy in the school yard! Too bad!

as much as u can't blame refs i have heard that burlington was given a penalty with less then 3mins left in the game and in overtime. i also agree with it being bs that only 1 omha team goes to the ohf's because I believe any of the medal winners could take home the ohf's

the ottawa league having 2 reps has been like that since before any of us were born. something to do with the ohf sactioning and behind the scenes crap. with it being the ottawa league turn to host they get 3 this year. nothing new, so i don't see why to get upset over it. all of us in other leagues send the champs so at least we can hold our head up going into knowing we belong there instead of a old rule that gets them in the back door.
