TIPPING IS PLAIN STUPID!
BOTTOM LINE:

So why do we allow this scam, in the form/system of "tipping," to go on by our participation in this practice? Easy! Mainly because of the massive social pressure on us to do so.

Also, there is the vanity aspect--we ourselves, love to tip-- "put on the dog," as they say --by impressing ourselves and others in our demonstarted generosity and ability to reward, handsomely, those "underlings" --yes, perceived underlings, if you care to be honest with yourself about it--even though said underlings may easily be pocketing higher wages than you yourself and for less effort.

And, their employers are laughing at all of us while they are quite content with their lower operating costs, as they, and the IRS, manipulate the whole scene to their personal advantage.

What If.... All costs of going out for meals, etc.--both goods and services--were included in the cost as listed--just like most other things. No tips, surcharges, gratuities, no BS!, whatever...
WHAT A CONCEPT!!!

WAKE UP AMERICA!

I may be the only one in a fifty mile radius who believes that tipping is crap. My entire family thinks I'm ridiculous and that we should "spread it (money) around". However, when I bring up the fact that nearly everyone refrains from tipping at places like McDonald's, they shut up quickly! Or gas stations. Do you tip the cashier inside? I worked as a front desk clerk for 6.50 an hour. The maids got tipped, but the front desk was the "public relations" people. We were in public service, just like servers, but I NEVER got tipped. I also work at an after school program where I take care of K-5 children until 6 pm. I have NEVER gotten tipped. Do you know what that means? People care more about their food than their kids. That is the honest truth. Why else would it be like that? Do teachers get tipped? What about mechanics? Janitors?

It is extremely difficult to stand up in the crowd of a mob and say no. You are labeled as cheap, petty, rude, etc. But if you think you are right, your bad feelings will probably go away. Keep repeating your message clearly and calmly and people will listen. They won't all change at once, but they will listen.
