Response to Do you believe Obama...

> What's the statute of limitations on a "loan?"

Since nobody's been harmed by this now-repaid loan, this is a pretty meaningless question.

The term of a loan is set in each individual contract, and the term of this loan was specifically set to align with the presidential terms in office, presumably because the Brits have figured out, sometime in the last couple of hundred years, that (1) the presidential elections are on a predictable schedule and (2) they may not like the next one. The original loan term was for Bush's first term; when Bush won a second term, the loan was extended for Bush's second term. When McCain lost, the loan was not renewed. There was never any "gift".

Whether Obama paid attention in church is irrelevant -- although based on what I see every Sunday, I wouldn't lay any odds on any randomly selected person paying attention -- but whether you have yet figured out the difference between "borrowing something" and "Santa Claus gave you a present" does matter to me. The bust falls into the first category, not the second, so your complaint about Obama "returning a gift" is entirely misplaced. Think of this action instead as the only thing Obama's going to do any time soon to pay off any of our debts.

Rob, I wouldn't say this to anyone else: If it pleases you to pitch a fit about Obama not extending the loan, that's fine with me. But if you're going to spend so much time complaining that Obama's a liar, then you need to stop spreading misinformation yourself.
