my six month check up with oncologist

Instead of my usual posts relating my various ailments (major and minor), I am now sharing good news with the site. My counts are excellent! It has now been almost two years since I was treated with 24/7 Cladribine in July 2007 shortly after diagnosis.

WBC 9.5
RBC 5.24
HGB 15.5
Platelets 182
Neutrophils 66.8
Abs neutrophils 6.4

I left Memorial Sloan feeling like I hit the lottery. It is a load off my mind knowing that I won't have to be treated again for HCL anytime soon. I wish that everyone on this site could have similarly excellent counts.

These are great counts...

The WBC seems "way" normal. Almost too good to be true.
Whad the doc say about it? I wonder if I've ever in my life
had wbc that good? The hemo and plts look about what you'd
expect for full remission--in my case. But my wbc never has been
above 5.6 even in full remission. Last was 5 for me.

The WBC could be elevated if there was an infection some where in the body or some other stress - just a thought.

Congrats

Congrats, Vince. Those are great counts, and all firmly within the normal range. I don't think you will have any HCL worries for a long while.

Wow...

And I was proud of my 5.0 WBC! Do you have your spleen? Just wondering, since white counts run higher without a spleen. Lookin' good for sure happy.gif !

Best to you,
Carolyn

It really is a tremendous relief. I am so fortunate to be in remission and to be rehired too. Now I can enjoy the summer. I am planning to go to Montreal and also Puerto Rico.

That is good stuff. You are now "grossly normal".
How does the job situation look?
