Anyone else ever get painful leg cramps

Lately, my plantar fasciitis has been acting up big time. I am seeing the podiatrist again on Thusday. I am going to get orthotics. In the meantime, yesterday I stuck an over the counter insert into my shoes. They are the same type I worse last year which helped. Anyway, I'm not sure if the inserts were the cause or not, but before I went to bed last night, I was walking around barefoot, I got something out of the fridge and had a severe and very painful charlie horse in my right thigh. It hurt like hell. It subsided after about ten minutes, and I went to sleep. However, all night, cramps in both legs woke me up. Now, I have to teach on only a couple hours of sleep. Since this is so unusual, I don't normally get leg cramps, I am worried that something is seriously wrong. More likely though it has something to do with wearing the inserts. I never even got leg cramps even when I was in good physical shape and was running. Maybe I should call my physician.

I suspect it's diet somehow. Never paid much attention.
I've worked out with weights all my life. I've had
various experiences with cramps/no cramps, arms going
numb, pinched nerves, soreness, strains, heart palpitations,
all of it subsides when I do less, or eat better than otherwise.

They went away. I hope they don't come back. Maybe I'm just getting old.

...seems to be kicking my butt more than HCL--and age won't go away?

You should get an xray of your heal to see if there is a spur in there. That can be injected with a steroid for long term pain relief. There is also a machine called the ossatron, which uses sound waves to break up calcifications from plantar fasciitis. It is basically the same therapy used to break up kidney stones.
