The 'ALT'-text is just to place a description of the graphic it does not load/show by itself, and it might be a help text for blind users (can you imagin how it is for a blind surfer coming to a website with a graphic-tables-overloades website and read : graphic, graphic, graphic...)
So. IE shows the ALT-text wrongly as a tooltip. People are always surprised when they find out, the 'tooltip' does not show in other browser ...
If you want to have a tooltip with descriptional text you have to use the title attribut (?).... in addition of alt="" write: title=""
How's your boo-footed goose doing? Is he 'waiting for Chirstmas'... but I only can guess that X-mas don't have the same meaning for your waterfowls than it has for usual geese in the country...
