and am getting everyt hing set up. So far so good....
The only thing I do not like is not having a batch thingy in the file manager. You have to move and or delete each file individually.
but I finally got smart and used an external FTP client. and did it all in one swoop...LOL live and learn. Now I got to do the picture links over and I am set. Big job.
I take it you are working on yours? Did you get a website and domain from sebastian Ohr at Hostinginsiders.com?

got a new e-mail addy (well not new but....) I am going to use it exclusively because I pay 6.00 a month and they have a virus and spam catcher that sends all that stuff to another webpage and doesnot clutter up an e-mail box. If I have everything go through that then I should never have virus problems. it is forwarded to my blackkats mail box. And I deceided to have only one and just manage it with folders...LOL
Please let me know if you got the account and how it is and what you think.

yes indeed. I too made the big step for all mankind.. no wrong.. just for me and bought webspace and a domain name there. You've found a really good one.
I'm presently working on it. Means I try to re-new my folder structure, getting away from frames, but there are some difficulties right now... well.. I tried with SSI (server-side-includes) but discovered that it will be a nice lot of work to change ALL my pages AND get them working properly. Perhaps templates will do? not sure. sigh. Presently I'm at a point of re-thinking all the mess.
And yes, I like the user-surface of the HostingInsiders. It's properly programmed, easy (more or less) to use and they have very fast servers.

I know all that stuff is on the host and it was on my old one. but got no clue...maybe I should read up on those things...NOT!!!!!
BTW MR. Pip is working on a smaller box for the emoticons. it is on his forum and has the emoticons plus the edit in a little box on the post page that stays on while you click from it.
Heard back from him on the slider and he said that he p robably could incorperate the emoticons into your slider. But think he will wait till he gets the box one done.
Yes, transfering pages from one host to another is a BIG JOB. even if you only have to redo the Pics. But what I am doing is putting the pics on my album and linking from there so that I don't have to ever do that again. I also do that with the pics for my forums. I have changed forum locations 5 times before I got to NW54 and all I had to do is copy the source and paste into the new forum. Outside of the address change no one was the wiser that we had moved...because it looked the same. LOL

Just tryed out the "NO HOTLINKING" thingy on the host and it works great.
found out a few things...I am sure that you probably know these already. but....I am feeling chatty.
reduing the picture links are not as bad as I thought....And if I use just the directory and file address then if I ever have to change it it will flow right and not have to be changed again. So I really don't need to put all the pics on an album and link form there...
BUT>>>> the pro's and con's of that is
If they are on the album I will save space on the webhosting files. Pro for Album
But they will not be "Hot Link and URL" protected linked form the album CON for Album
and just the reverse for the pro and con on the website. if on protected/if not then space is saved.
Oh the drama of decisions...LOL
Hope the CGI and SSL are not giveing you too much trouble and that you have figured out an easier way.

It seems to even work with the Tempory Internet Folder. I could not find either file in the folder... You know that when a right click is inabled or even a pic comes up with a red x it usually loads into the TIF regardless.
I am getting more inpressed by the minute...LOL We got to get Steve and Chris on this to make a file so that we can block HL and URL postings.
but I think technically one could put in the extention of HTML and block all those pages too. LOL but then that would cut down on the free advertizing... Boy, I do not know of anyother webhosting place that has this...but I may be wrong. I am just thinking of the huge picture out there....surely there is a program that you can put on a website (HTML script or something) hey be back just thought of something.

Got the things working at last as I wanted to have them working. It was a logical error in my thoughts (about relative links) and SSI's haven't been on my knowledge-list till now. Half of the work is done now, few more days until the release will be published

Not if the strcuture is ready. Mine was, because I have used relative links, and it would have been easy to shove all to this webspace.. but well.. I wanted to try something new which means I have to work and re-write EVERY single page. Modern times... More and more people are browsing without IE, and those browsers are needing clean programmed websites. I want my pages being accessable for most people, just think of new technologise ablout w@p-MobilePhones, or all the handicaped (?) folks which cannot access frames websites or table-based.
An example for frames-set site is my present website at Arcor (left-navigation, head and content-frame)
Tables are just fine for doing table stuff. But if you want to design a page they are depreciated.
It is a giant work to get it right at first but then it is easy to maintain.

No Hotlinkings... no- this is something I haven't done yet, why should I? My pictures are not that interesting that it would be needed to protect them. Lol.. if one day my trafiic increases because of thousands of hot links then I have to re-think, I guess. Oh, and you cannot use Netw54 pictures elsewhere,it's just like the GeoCities-graphics, they too not show up when the referrer isn'T a GeoCity-server.
Got the contact-mail-cgi thingy working (I really like it) but have to have a close look at the cgi-search again, which shows no results presently...
What do you think of the guestbook there? I installed it but couldn't find any option to make it look-like my homepage (no option to change the source-code and add a css-file?) - so I will stay with my present guestbook from OWS which is just fine.

relative links? is that where just the directories and file are in place and not the Site URL? If so that is what I am talking about. If things are set up that way then it is easy to just transfer making sure to keep everything in it's proper place and directory...LOL worked with that alot yesterday.
Did i mention that I paid ofr a month of geocities (5.00) to upgrate to plus so that I could transfer all my pages out of there. I did that yesterday and i will transfer all the pages out of Topcities today, (if I can get this puter to work right today--that is what I get for leaving it on all night LMBO)
Oh I am doing a store front for a guy in Dallas and he is building a great computer for me with just the stuff I need and not alot of crap-o-la.. I am going to put Lenux on it as an operating system. then i will clean out these two pieces of trash puters here and put 98 and xp on them. Need a Router for the monitor...LOL get tired of switching it back and forth between puters. Oh well in the future.

About your english...LOL I can just imagin you reading these posts in German...and how they must sound.. I went to one of your german forums (the one with the poems) and translated it so Icould read in English...LMBO it was really funny to try to understnad even in english. Nouns are not too bad in translating but verbs, adjetives and the sentance structures are so different. But in most languages if you can understand the nouns you usually can figure out the contentex of the story.

anyway on the home page...when you scroll down the page slowley the light blue comes up inbetween the german and the box title...Never mind I can't get it to do it again..LOL but now as you scroll down the german top greating disapears...LOL you have so many neat little things in that page and all your pages...

OH, BTW I was going to reply to your comment about the servers being fast at the new host. I find it all very nice and not alot of space taken up when you are in the control pannel. I was able to be in the control pannel and have many windows open working on a couple of pages at a time and i never once got the "low resources" thingy or a hang up Like I did with Geocities and Gisol and most programs. I could not beleive that I worked on the pages all day and did not have to reboot once...
also I noticed that I have to login to be albe to call up the mail program (mail box) will not come up as a stand alone outside the server.
But I do like the idea of the mail...with the 3 options..that you can use all or just one and what ever one you are familuar with or like. I am so glad that they had the Horde mail client because i love that one. It is the only Mail Client that I have seen that has a message "Redirect" and I love it. I get alot of picture messages that need to go to the album and I just redirect the message to that e-mail and wala it is there and al original. Name and all.
Well, this thing is acting a bit better today...but think it was my fault that I could not get into Topcities yesterday...forgot I changed the password...LOL Duh!!!!!.
so I am now FTPing all the files from there to the new host.
Oh I was really impressed with Sebastian yesterday...i e-mailed him that I thought I should up grade to the medium package for more file space and transfer bites...
Instead of just telling me what the price would be (like most companies) he came back and said that I did not need to up grade unless i was going to host or get another domain name or needed more MySql data thingys.
He suggested that if and when I needed more file space etc, that he could do a price on that. And that there was no need to upgrade to a bigger Package. Was not that super nice of him? I am so impressed with this guy...
You have noticed that all 3 packages have the same features (except for Domain docking and one other thing us little folks don't use) and the only thing in the uprages is the amount of the features. I think that is so neat.
Most places only give you minimum features in the lowest package and then add features as you upgrade. I really think we have found a GOOD HOME...and it has forums-boards too. Not that I want to Host my own board...too much work. but it would be fun to make one just to see what is what...
One of my members has a Rattery (raises rats) and wants a forum and webpage...I may just use the features on the host to do these just to get an idea of what is what.
Can use all the neat Rat pics (gif's etc) you might have on hand. Maybe when we get our places finished we can work on it together.

I've mine forwarded to my Aol account as I've noticed it won't let me WRITE as other than rattariu@rattarium.net... lol.. though I can recieve mails for ed_home@rattarium.net. Horde say it could be changed, but there's nothing else on the choose-your-name menue. maybe I'm too stupid to do so.. lol. Another item on my To-Do-list.
As you've seen, there are now listed some 70 pages listed on the sitemap( and all of them were re-written. phew.
Now the sub-domains have to follow (the menu-items to the right, NightHawk's, Dollbergen and Titanic) which will be again almost 100 pages. No hurry here, could been sometime.

Because only the first page is in the public.html folder, all other pages are having own folders, clicking the HOME link will bring you automatically to www.rattarium.net/Rattarium/ - without the file-name visible (index.shtml) SHTML because the navigation (left, right and foot) are server-includes, and some browsers do not show the site without the S before the *.html.
Speaking of browsers, there are some features which aren't to be seen with IE.

I do this because my old mail server from 2 years ago has a virus and spam catcher that puts them on a different site that I can go to and view or read and then accept when ever. None of that stuff goes into my mail box unless i authorize it from the other website.
so in the full name box I put either Blackkats4 or if it is business then my name (I made two different idenitites and you can make as many as you need for different people/businesses.
In the FROM addy box I put the same thing...so that no one can use anything but that addy.
see so simple....but it does take some looking and reading...Remember I have had Horde for over 3 years. I love it. No FOO FOO on it it is just a straight e-mail package and since our new Host has the other 2 If I want to send a FOO FOO e-mail I can always use one onf them...LOL

Sorry that I did not reply to this sooner....I had to take my son to the airport to get him off to soccer camp for 5 days...Yipee I am finally alone for a couple of days...
We left at 4 am and I did not get back till almost noon and on the way home I found an injured bird and brought it home and proceeded to find a rehab place for it. Needles to say it was late when I did and was planning to deliver it this am but alass it passed away about 2 am.

Web Develop: well.. I try to write with W3 standards. Too long every little browser showed the same page in a different way. Now with the standards I want to exclude as few folks as possible, and I'm testing my pages with IE, Mozilla (Netscape uses the same Gecko engine) and Opera, additional with a pagereader.. lol.. I'm afraid, I failed a little in this, but I swear I gave my best Check your webpage with this online-tool: http://validator.w3.org/ it shows up all made mistakes.

When kids were litter I use to have to do all my stuff at night...Made for little sleep..LOL 17t now with the last one at age 17 it is easier to do things during the day when he is at school...LOL but will be nice when he goes off to collage and it is total peace and quite. Since I am a single parent I have no obligations to anyone but me and him...No demanding husband or mate to have to cater to...LOL Thank GOD
