I really like your slide show link in an iframe...

we must be on the same wave link....I just put a side show from an album into a post on the forum.

http://www.network54.com/Forum/thread?forumid=220327&messageid=1090063615&lp=1090063615

You cannow go to the site because I made it where NW54 members can read but not post.

basically you do it just like the swf files....just put in the coding and then hit preview and then edit and there ya go. but ya got to adjust the box bigger in the edit mode because for some reason the width in the code won't do right...

Wanted to ask you a question about IFrams....

is it HOT Linking when you do that?  because it give you the page in living color so I would think it would use their band width....but I guess it is different since it is the whole page?????

I remember youtalking about using iframes to view other sites so it would be SAFE....and it seems that pop ups don't appear when you do the iframe.

Your assistance in clearing this up is greatly appreciated.

BTW how are you...I ask everytime because it is such a long time inbetween conversations...

How are the children and the holiday going?  Hope you are not gray.OR too stressed..Have a great week end.

Hi there.. I see.. they are using javascript for the 'show' . My page is an iframe, right, and the pictures there are put upon html-pages which are re-directing from one to another within the frame. Pretty simple slide-show, isn't it

Hot linking. yes it is. you have a direct link to there account, and their page is loaded from their server to your browser.

Watching pages in an iframe safe.. not that I'm aware of, but there's Mr.Pips
SafeFrame-page where you can look pages and sources in safe mode.

I'm surfing mostly with FireFox, which is a lot more safer than IE. For IE I've put up many un-safe page to my what-do-you-say? restricted areas? (IE-Settings-Security-..), and when I do my daily scan for unwanted cookies (tracking, trojaner...) my Spybot does not find any of them.
For the ads and pop-ups I have the googleBar in IE (Firefox and Opera are usually blocking ads). If it is possible to avoid ads by using an iFrame? not too sure, heard about it... setting all parameters to zero, but never tried this, sorry, do not know more about it.

How am I? well... don't ask.. lol.. Caught a cold.. the kids are 24/7 at home - very stressy, you bet.

Our weather here is.. well .. The shortest joke of this year: summer 2004.
The morning started with a sunny blue sky and now I'm watching the gray 'soup' of rainy clouds, storm, thunderstorm, rain. sigh. Just a weather making me stay at home in my bed and read a good book.. if only they would let me.. lol.

Btw.. some of your pictures in your forum are not visible.. have you set them to no-access?

that's it for now.. cya...

they are using javascript for the 'show</P>

Yes, it is a members photo album from Picture Trail and that is their slide show.</P>

IF having a web site in Iframes is HOT LINKING is it as bad as when you "Hot Link" a picture?  It seems like that  (pics and music) are the Brunt of the conversations on HOT LINKING.....and not any mention of IFRAMES... Can't be any worse than if some one visits their webpage direct????  I often have members , myself included, who copy and paste Whole Pages into a post for some one to see something...and there does not seem to be any mention of that either or a concern.. It is all so confusing....LOL</P>

For the ads and pop-ups I have the googleBar in IE (Firefox and Opera are usually blocking ads). If it is possible to avoid ads by using an iFrame?</P>

Well, I am not sure either except that I noticed that there are no pop up adds of the 3 or 4 sites I have run in IFrame on the board. So i assumed that it stops some of them.  I use Yahoo pop up blocker on the Yahoo tool bar...I have both Yahoo and Google and find the Yahoo blocks more pop ups than Google and also has a better "allow" feature than Google...Yahoo even block most of their own pop ups....LOL and that is a blessing in it's self....</P>

Firefox and Opera </P>

I think I downloaded Opera once a while ago...but not sure why I did not use it...I am downloading FireFox now and will give it a go..Ya know how we get use to certain features and where they are and how they run...LOL even though I do not like IE i am so Hooked.  LOL but will try someting else if it helps...  OH BTW....I have bought Trend Micro's PCillian virus ware.....and I like it so much better than Norton or McAFEE (Hate McAFEE btw) but I tryed it's 30 day trial and loved the added features and good job it does....Still have Norton on the other puter but only because it has a few more months to run...LOL</P>

Well, FireFox is done and wants to install and wants me to close all windows....LOL will be back later to finish this...</P>

OH, Met a fellow at the VA (Veterans Hospital) and he has found a great e-mail client with tons of space...but some of it is in Russen...LOL.</P>

The addy is http://www.hotbox.ru incase you are intrested...also did you knotice that Yahoo has given all the free e-mail people a ton of Mail Box space?  It is absoultly amazing....I use Yahoo when the Horde Mail client does not display the messages in a fancy display..... and I need to see the message as it was written.</P>

Ta Ta for now  BTW I have my editor off again and still can not make the Quote box work....Please tell me how to do it. I click on quote and copy the quote in there but it will not paste anywhere???? just disapears.</P>

ok I just down loaded Fire Fox....I am

impressed
so far.....and really like it so far.....
BUT......am having trouble with the music on your page (no play) and the music bar does not even show on my webpages that I have it embeded...

I downloded Real One again and still nothing.... I need music on the pages to play...HELP....Please.

Well, back to answering the other post....

Sorry that you are sick and not feeling well and that the weather is not cooperating with you...but sometimes we all need a bit of time just for ourselves and I think God send us little ailments so that we will just stop and take a break...

Concerning Links....yes it is a real drama to remember all the links and things ya g ot to change when you change hosts and or webnames....Now I know why websites have so many re-directs....LOL it can be easier than going through all the pages changing things....

I still have a ton of links to fix too especially from geocities and topcities but i am on it...kind of...

Well got to go and get to work before it gets hot here....but am hoping that the cloudy skys will stay and keep it cooler...Poor ducks and geese with all those feathers are really suffering in the heat... I really feel for them and usually put a mister out for them to play in during the h otest part of the day.

TA TA and thanks for the FF idea...just need to know how the music works...

What do you mean pics are not visable??? Which ones and what did it look like?

I do not have as many p ics on the forum as I use to.

No the pics are not accesse protected in the forum...most of them are 54 realms or fotki album...

see I got the quote thingy down...LOL

I want to say thank you again for the neat recommend of Firefox...I have used it all day and it is WONDERFUL and does neat things.

The only thing I can find that I do alot and it won't do it is....when you view source of a webpage (in IE you can go to the file menu bar in the window it opened it in and save it...
In Fire Fox it will not let you save it any which way but to highlight the info and copy it to a doc file....Maybe I just don't have something set right...no drama though...I will live...

Have a great week and hope you are better this week and the weather is to your liking.

July 19 2004, 4:12 PM

well, since the picture is in your post I take it that it finally showed???

sometimes they do not show for me if i am on LOW System Resorces...I get the red X but still can click and show...

I found a couple of sites sfor Firefox, just incase you have not found and looked at them...One is a forum: http://forums.mozillazine.org/search.php>
and one is a site that builds things for Motz and Firefox...it is really quite neat.
You and Mr. Pip might like some of the things they have done...
http://www.extensionsmirror.tk>/
NEVERMIND THIS ABOVE LINK THE FIREFOX HELP ON THEIR BROWSER GOES TO THE REAL EXTENTIONS PAGES....i RAN OUT OF ROOM ON MY C DRIVE TODAY....lol LOT OF NEET THINGS. DID YOU SEE THE CSS EDITOR? IT WILL EDIT THE CSS ON THE PAGE AND MAKE THE CHANGES TO THE FILE RIGHT THEN AND THERE....REALLY WEIRD BUT NEAT FOR MY WEBPAGES IF i HAVE TO MAKE CHANGES...
NIGHT
Just found the TAB thing for the browser...way cool and just too neat...works faster than the buttons on the bottom of the window. And a real plus for me since I usually have 5-6 pages open at one time...LOL

I was reading about the music and as you know when putting it into a website "EMBED Tag" is the one that Netscape reconizes and will use...but I would have thought that firefox would accknowledge t hat tag too and the things I have read says it should....all mu music I try to do with the "Embed Tag"...

I have loaded Java, Flash and Real One i HAVE TO MAKE CHANGES..Player and so far I still get NO MUSIC>>>
not even on your mouse over...((((((((

I am not a happy camper on that score...I love hearing music that is on websites (well some of it) LMBO...

I take it you did not hear any music when you went to my forum? it is there....in IE.
