A dedication

I wrote this after a short visit to WV. I was so inspired!

Sarcasm

Sharp as a Samurai sword,
worn as a warning to anyone who comes too close.
Too close to the edges or to the core.
Too close to a lie or to the truth.
Or perhaps too close to the heart in some cases.
Doesn’t actually matter.

Often mistaken for wit. Often mistaken for cleverness.
It slices like a kitchen dicer. Double, triple edged.
Meant to grind and mutilate.
Whatever it takes
to make a point of entry.
Often regarded as the best defense or offense in a world
where it is revered to be first and foremost.

Sometimes delivered with innuendos.
Sometimes delivered outright with callous thoughtless words
with intentions of proving one’s self the victor
in a battle no one ever wins.
Sometimes it slashes so deep, it divides.
Friends from friends.
Family from family.
Hearts from hearts.

Very good, Suzanne!

October 27 2003, 7:05 AM

I just had a look over there myself - it's the women that side with him that really surprise me, you'd think any woman could see what he's done and what they're all continuing to do. What really breaks my heart is all the bashing new writers take on the feedback page, over non-edited material. But I can't go back - still haven't decided what to do exactly to go forwards, mind you, but now that my own travelling is done for the moment, and my visitor is gone, maybe I'll have some time to think and do something more concrete.

Your poem is very good, Suzanne! Amazing how those people could stand by and watch my heart and soul get ripped right out, and be happy about it, eh? Reminds me of the old Jewish saying, 'no good deed goes unpunished.' Seems to fit over and over in my life!

Good to see you, Suzanne, and good to be back here!!

Love and Peace,

Alice

Sarcasm

Brilliant poem - personnaly I think it's relevance to the wv is secondary -

it stands proud with a unique grit and stamina

- I suppose there is justification for gratitude to wv for the inspiration.

Sword Indeed...Excellent poem

October 27 2003, 4:57 PM

I don't hold the title anymore of sarcastic remarks.
I mastered the subject years back in dealing with my husband and his lawyers during a separation. Ugly is
what I felt inside when I had to verbally attack him,
his lawyer and my own sexual perverse hound dog of
a lawyer. Here I was getting separated and my own
lawyer ranked top spot of all my worse nightmares. My sarcasm held them all at bay and my prayers and concerns were answered by God .

Sarcasm is ugly and painful.

So glad those days are over and I do believe the winner
of sarcasm can be placed somewhere else . The initials
of that place need not be mentioned at this point.

I choose not to give any sort of credit bad or good
from this point on.

Your poem was excellent Suzanne. Keep them coming!!

Love,
Julie
