Off the Beaten Track

Off the beaten track,
Along the ne’re journeyed road,
Something calling at the end,
Some long-forgotten ode,

Walking down this trail,
Staring left and right,
Watching as the golden sunset,
Lends its rays to the star-ed night,

Approaching walks a stranger,
They sit and talk of many things,
Of disillusion, reality,
Of lovers, fools, and kings,

Of time, of space,
Of the beautious scene,
Of nothingness, of everything,
Of all that’s in between,

From dusk ‘til dawn,
And back again,
Of life, love,
Of sword and pen,

And, when it ended,
As he turned,
He whispered something,
One final word,

“Live, laugh, Love,
And never turn back,
Always follow your own course,
Off the beaten track.”

Nice job...

Daniel,

This one is very nicely done. It's light, and has a great flow to it. Nice usage of contractions.

I liked this alot. It was a nice read first thing in the morning. Thanks.

Peace,
Dave F

Good work, Daniel!

December 10 2003, 8:42 AM

Very good job! And that's where a lot of us go, as writers, off the beaten track...

I just have to tell you that today is my little Daniel's 7th birthday, just because your name is Daniel too - good day to have you here!

Love and Peace,

Alice

Off the beaten track

Hello Daniel
You have taken me for a leisurely stroll with your poetry today. It is so true that we writers have to venture off the beaten track with our imaginations to be able to take others with us, and you have done this successfully with this piece. Done extremely well. I enjoyed it.

Great poem Daniel! Imaginative description of where we've been, sometomes for inspiration.
I seem to have been forever 'off the beaten track', searching for a way off it!

Poem with Depth

December 11 2003, 3:12 PM

Great Poem Daniel. I liked the deeper meaning I see regarding our travelling the path less travelled. The idea of viewing life as a journey, and our being able to converse with that needed teacher or guru when necessary. Yes, I intend to stay off of the beaten track and trail blaze in a new direction. Excellent Daniel.
