The Demand For A Strong Man

Listen! Listen!
Kept walking they did.
From the podium the man gesticulated vigorously.
The audience sat without emotion or care.
Afterwards someone asked - "why all the fanfare?"
The man with the pipe everyone seemed to follow.
A true pied-piper was he.

He appeared to be a strong man, when in reality he was
the wrong man.
Like sheep they followed their pseudo-shepherd.
As a Judas goat he lead them to their slaughter.
Husbands, wives, sons, and daughters.
How cruel was the deception with the elect being the
exception.

How was this possible some have asked?
Because He blinded their eyes, lest seeing they see,
and He deafened theirs ears, lest hearing they
should hear.
The greatest nation upon the face of the Earth became
populated by blind and deaf individuals.
They became blind, because they refused to see the
plight of those less fortunate.
They became deaf, because they turned a deaf ear to
the cries of those in need.

And History continues to repeat

December 11 2003, 5:23 PM

A great many messages in this one...from ye olde past ..present and no doubt the wicked future.

Very few see and hear this day. Perhaps many can read and understand the importance of what you just wrote about in splendid poetic fashion.

Extremely well written .

Respectfully,

Julie

And when they do find a strong man.....

December 11 2003, 9:10 PM

.... they usually kill him off, because he develops a strong following ....

Isn't it time we changed the ways of this world? I really think it all starts with each of us, with pouring love into our daily lives, to those around us and those at a distance. Little things, smiles to people we pass on the street, a hug to a neighbour who seems down, an invitation to someone who would least expect it to something they'd enjoy, a conversation with an elderly person out taking the air - you all know what I mean! You're already all good at these things, but maybe it's time to increase the wattage in our love lights? I think this world needs it....

Very good job, David! Good to see you, too!

Love and Peace,

Alice

Thank You

Thank you Julie and Alice for your encouraging words regarding my attempts at writing poetry. I do try to put on paper what I feel the world should hear from one who is trying to find his own way through this morass.

The Demand

December 12 2003, 10:05 AM

Hello David!
You have put into words what the rest of us feel! Truth delivered through poetry, and very well done
at that. We live in a world where we doubt each time we are promised something for the future, because we have been led down the path too many times. This may seem hard for everyone, but it can also mean a change when people begin to say enough is enough. You, my friend, are doing just that with your poetry and with your new website. The world needs a voice such as yours. Keep it up!
Suzanne
