Nothing and Everything
Don’t we wonder at nothing?
See the knowing
In eyes in fading photographs.
Running in fear of nothing.
See the glowing,
In the face of a child, that laughs.
Hiding behind masks at nothing.
Hear the pealing
Of church bells on a winters night.
Revere politicians of nothing.
So appealing,
Yet not righteous, not right.
Don’t we struggle for nothing?
See the needing
In the eyes of a child who dies.
Comforts galore or nothing.
They need feeding,
Our future, ours to supply.
The time has come
To break the back of burdendom
And political games.
The time is rife
For people who value life,
To stand together and stake their claims.
