One Single Tear

One single tear.
Across the eye to the lid
falling down the cheek.
A tear of joy. A tear of pain.
A cry from the heart or the soul
or from a body worn.
Too many tears
by too many souls.
Through the centuries.
Through the time of man.

A child. A woman. A man.
Silent it lies upon the cheek.
Only seen by the eyes of God.
Only felt by God.
Remembered by Him.

On the cross, a man dies.
A tear falls. Silent it lies upon His cheek.
Only seen by the eyes of God.
Only felt by God.
Remembered by all.

Absolutely Beautiful, Suzanne!

December 19 2003, 8:33 PM

I not only have a tear in my eye, I have a lump in my throat - brilliantly evocative work, Suzanne, beautiful!

I hope you're enjoying the Holiday Season, and not overworked and overstressed like most of us Moms are at this time of the year. How wonderful for you to have your children around you at Christmastime... I'm so pleased for you!

I have all my Western children, at least, and am in close touch with the grown up ones who live back East, and my 'extra' child has gone farther west to his Dad for the holidays, so the house is full enough - I'd need a very large house to have all of my family home for Christmas!! I was just saying to a bachelor friend today, I can't imagine not having to prepare Christmas for children - I've been doing it for so long!

Keep up the excellent work, Suzanne! You're getting better all the time...

Love and Big Hugs,

Alice
