A Noble Idea

Nothing is as grand as a noble idea.
It transcends time and space.
It was for this that Luther climbed the stairs at Wittenburg and nailed his 95 theses.
This noble idea caused Giordano Bruno to endure the flames.
It led Joan of Arc to put on her armor.
It caused Michaelangelo to paint the Sistine Chapel.
It gave impetus to a slave revolt led by Spartacus.
Homer's Illiad and Odyssey were born of a noble idea.

Oh, that everyone could but embrace the wonder of a noble idea.
Being consumed by something that is greater than one's self.
A splendid notion that will lead to one forsaking his or her own safety.
That something that is so infectious as to border on insanity.
Yes, a divine madness subdued by selflessness.
The love making between a man and woman pales in comparison to such sprituality.

The solace of one emptying himself.
That sublime nirvana of the Buddha.
The mantras of the Yogi.
The proverbs of the Taoists.
The catechisms of the Catholics.
All of these representing a never fulfilled yearning for the Divine.
Except via the Noble Idea.

A great poem that seriously focuses on what has, is and will be humankind. A pocketfull of people. Yet....... (don't like to bracket people), but a number of us search for this noble idea, just as we do religion, I include myself. That alone makes me worthy of nothing but of an open, delving and unsatisfied mind. Searching and knowing there is more is wonderful. Keeps us going mate. I feel I could have a lengthy conversation or two with you.
Bless Ya Mate and let's see more of your writings - time is so short .............

Certainly desired food for thought.

Not a bad idea either!!! (sorry ..in a silly mood)

My other comments were nothing less than serious.

Respectfully always,

Julie
