I too wrote a poem for the spring contest - what does spring mean to you but didn't finish in time to enter. So here it is for you guys

Spring

Most people love this time of year
I find it is bitter-sweet
Though it represents life renewed
All I see are the empty seats

A brand new cycle is begun
'Tis the season I was born
But reminders of the ones I've lost
Leads my grieving heart to mourn

As from the winter we recover
With family and friends we celebrate
But the list grows ever shorter
So many "mothers" now are "late"

The first, my adoptive mother
Her battle with cancer so long
From one spring to another
Her will to live was strong

My world revolved around her
She gradually became weak and frail
The emotional horror of her passing
My heart and soul screamed out a wail

The search for her took 50 years
I knew her for only two
She died Easter Friday morning
Now I've lost my birth mother too

She was the one I looked like
Possessing my genetic history
It was the healing of our meeting
That led me to create my poetry

And then just two years later
My husband lost his precious mom
The mother-in-law chair's now vacant
So much heartache leaves me numb

On those sunny and warm spring days
That cause your spirit to take wing
I savour each marvelous moment
And honour their memory, above everything

Pam

Your poem is heart-wrenching, my dear, and I'm sure all of us are wishing you a giant group hug right about now!

We'll have to think of something truly spectacular to do one of these Springs, to give you new springtime memories!!!

Glad you're back among the cyber, Pam.

Love and Big Hugs,

Alice

Thanks for the hugs. They are greatly appreciated. And it's so good to be back online. YEAH!
All I can say is that my life has been Spirit inspired and guided. I really can't figure out where else my strength came from.
I've submitted a samle of my poetry to a publisher for consideration.(The same one Alice sent in to.) The deadline is March 31, so I should get a response soon. I'll let you guys know what they said.
Love Always
Pam

Here is another hug.

Life has trials and you have had more than a life time of them . Yet, you surface with extra energy & love and burst open in poetry... just like springs bursts open with new life.

Thank you for putting so much reality - delicately sprinkled with lovely poetry.

That's a very good recipe and way to share one's life with others. I very deeply appreciate your efforts and personal style .

God Bless you always,

Julie

But a definate winner here!! Heavily laden with deep sadness but with a vein of hope and strength throughout. The latter, we all need, some of us have found and some of us are still searching for ........ Lovely poem Pam.
