Given Up

And the man had given up
Lost the zest.
Oh, he’d tried, more than most
But now he’d given in,
Given up the ghost.

Had no one to share highs and lows
Or memories.
He was stripped and undone.
The tether reached it’s end
Under a relentless burning sun.

He was found innocent,
Yet he burned and squirmed,
He rolled through space
Fighting past battles.
He was an utter disgrace.

And so the man gave up,
He lived and yet he died.
Knowing there was no uniting
He curled,
And with him, went ……… his writing.

Rusty, this is the saddest tale you've ever written! It had better be about someone else and not you!!! How horribly sad, my dear friend - a person can have a broken heart, maybe even a broken mind, but they should never give up their writing!

Perhaps this man has given up prematurely? Maybe God has exactly what he wants and needs in store for him right around the next bend? Life is filled with twists and turns and ups and downs - but a man should not give up on his writing no matter what! Writing helps us clear our souls, brings our inner selves out onto the paper, helps us examine and heal our hurts.

Tell your 'friend' NOT to give up on his writing! Please?
