This is one of my very, very, very first ever poems... I always loved it and I still do enjoy it.. it's one of the few that I know needs work, but that I refuse to alter.


“Astro-Neuro-logical Traveler”

I drift along in a Cosmo-planar ocean,
away from the world and its preconceived notions.
Here, in this place, I am one with emotions,
holding on firmly to my mystical potion.

A blast of solar wind soothes my body and soul
as gravity chains me to a great, burning coal,
but the radiant heat-waves set fire to my bowl,
and I'm sucked through the mouth of a gaping black hole.

Transcending eons on the galactic scale,
I see how the web of chronology's so frail,
then I am caught on the wings of a nebulous gale
and become one with a meteoric hail.

I sense that the physical barrier's been breached;
my ocular kaleidoscope's limit's been reached.
I've found so many things I wish I could teach,
but the wonders I see are beyond human speech.

I'm spewed from the vacuum in the midst of an eye
of an astral maelstrom in some uncharted sky.
I lazily watch as an epoch goes by
and begin my descent from my place up on high.

The end of my celestial journey's in sight
as my spiritual morning fades into night.
No mortal would believe my fantastical flight,
but they cannot bring me to turn back from the light.

Superb!


An adventurous piece and it is quite amazing how the first pieces that ever flow out from one's soul to paper are filled with great detail and depth. Thanks for sharing it here and I don't think you should change anythng about it.

I wouldn't change a word, Jim, this is great! You've done an excellent job of putting a very spiritual experience into words.

No wonder you've always seemed older than your years; this kind of experience certainly opens up all the senses!
