Forever Children
Asking why 'til we die
We are forever children.
Fireflies in the night,
Darting particles of an endless sigh
Forever children, love to share
Love to be surprised,
To laugh, giggle and feel safe
Knowing someone we love is there.
Marvelling life’s fair choices
White crispbread Winter days,
Paddling Summer’s water
Amongst other children’s voices.
Forever children, love a hug
And warmth of someone close we love.
When life hurts, makes us cry
To be tucked into bed safe, in love and snug.
To hold a hand, gaze out to sea
Shimmering sails, dazzling jewels
Crashing waves and far horizon
Hiding much more we’d love to see.
We stand, observe the little one’s play
Their fun is in our hearts,
And our hearts are in their laughter
Until our dying day ……….
