| For ages I’ve existed
as a sapling with no roots
while a part of me insisted
it was time to bear my fruits,
but I could not just surrender
to these simple, carnal needs
when I still could not remember
who it was that laid my seeds.
I speak not of my father,
who had handed me my name;
it was he who never bothered
to explain from where we came.
Perhaps his years in Akron
or near Asia’s eastern shore
left no time to find his background
or his people’s precious lore.
And so it is my mission:
to discover all I can,
to, through blood and hard volition,
find my roots and thus my land.

Brilliantly written, so obvious and good luck in your search .......... unless you were using poetic licence .....
