Behold my Maiden

The Ice Maiden and I were fated to meet.

Blended within a veritable forest
Of glorious snow mountains
Nestles the maidens Ice Palace.
Or so I’d heard ……….

Lost my dogs one by one
Within days they’d all gone.
Deserted my sleigh and worldly goods
And climbed the nearest ridge.

Fate led me there.
For the Ice Palace and surrounding winter landscape,
Wore a suggestion of the most delicate pink.

The day was so bright.
I was totally enamoured.
The Ice Palace could only be seen
If one looked slightly off straight.

Four shivering horses
Stomped impatient – tethered to an ice coach,
Nostrils flared their keeness,
The coach was a sight to behold.

Slithering, tumbling down the slope,
I smelled a fragrance
Nay, tasted a fragrance,
That felled my sorrows, welled my spirit.

I stood before the Ice Palace door
Behind me was the coach and eager four.
Pale pink turrets towered to the sky,
I was so cold and tired
Yet so warm and fully wired.

A host of laughing playful children,
All bright as pure crystal
Opened the door,
Danced around me and led me in.

We were in a cavernous hall
Draped with stalactites, mazed with stalagmites.
Laughter echoed
And goodness glowed
In pale shades of pink.
The Ice Maiden materialised,
Said she’d waited centuries for me.
I was in awe of the beauty before me.

One often has sensual dreams
But none, I swear,
Would be in the vicinity
Of this Heavenly experience.

Dressed in sinuous white ice lace,
Laced with a purple pinkish tint,
She whispered telepathically –
The coach and four awaits.

I humbly, tenderly accepted
Her proffered hand..
Knelt
And brushed the lightest kiss.

We sat so close
As the horses galloped silently,
Pleased to be free.
We were airborne and I was ecstatic to be me.

Trading love filled whispers,
I tasted lips of finest port.
Travelling through skies of silver ……
I knew I’d found, what I knew I’d find
And for nearly a lifetime,
I’d sought.

Amazing, Rusty!

January 16 2005, 9:19 AM

How can you make being frozen to death so nice, Sir Rusty? I feel like an ice maiden right now - it's 'warmed up' to -20 here this morning, but that's still far too cold for my blood! For a few days, we were the coldest spot on the planet. Anybody got a oneway ticket to a tropical paradise?

Amazing how you can make even cold and ice seem nice, my friend. Thanks for warming me up with your work!

Love and Hugs,

Alice
