Give One a Break

Give one a break
For everyone’s sake.
Let one explain ………

When sunshine turns to rain
As the song goes
The wind blows
The river flows
God bestows
Ya need ta beat yaself up
And start again.

But with the benefit of experience …..
Don’t yawn ……..
Take your strengths and adorn
Yourself as you were born.
Think you’re a clown
Beat up – beat down,
Weighted with scorn ……….
One is far more than a pawn.

So the story goes ……
Let me try to explain, again,
That the pain
Is momentary, passing, mundane.
If one wants to give
And one wants to live
Then one will maintain
A certain vive,
To relieve the stresses
And begin to believe.

Don’t let the bastards get you down,
All you must do is breathe in deep
The air around you …….
Then you’ll know
When you’re curled in a ball
And they’re a kickin’
That God has found you.

Please give one a break
For the reader’s sake,
I know, You know,
There are chances
And so many dances
In the ballroom of folk.
That sometimes
We’re broke
Ready to croak
Yet we want chances.
And, if we wait we get them.

God love each and every one of us
For we are weak
And cannot speak
Words
That have not been written.

Give One A Break

February 20 2005, 7:05 PM

A haunting poem, Rusty. Brought me to tears as it touched on beliefs from my youth. Many times I wanted to give up, to end the pain, but then heard God's/Spirit's words - "Don't give up! Do what you have to but no matter what you must survive! If you die, THEY WIN! DON'T LET THEM WIN!"

And so I kept fighting. And what helped me to heal was reading the words that others wrote for the words gave voice to my hidden thoughts and feelings. As a poet, or writer, I believe we are reaching out to help others as we were helped.

And the message I have gotten over the years is that God/Spirit DOES LOVE US, EVERYONE! Whether we believe it or not.

As Alice puts it - KEEP ON WRITING, NO MATTER WHAT!

Love and Hugs
Pam
