This Chap

This chap’s not seeking tomorrows
Mostly he’s bored
Surprised he’s bored
Surprised time races when life stands still.
Watching lengthening shadows
Waiting until spiders devour –
They await their hour.
No mountains, only optional hills
Mostly this chap’s seeking
Ways through, ways out, avoiding hills,
Goodbyes, fleeting thrills.
Spring is nice to see, avoids sour
Unicities, unwelcome atrocities.
This chap’s floored.
Surprised he’s floored.
Staggered he has friends now,
A few to praise him
And faze him into a being of worth.
A bequest to the world – his birth.
This chap's seeking nothing
Has a light within dying eyes,
A faltering flame, a flickering name
Of words and purple sighs.
Spider skitters,
Devours,
This chap notes the hours,
Saddened, frightened, bitter.

This chap is often kicked down
Yet always rises
But this chap is broken
By all he depises.
He is broken
Took all the blows
Heard all words to be spoken –
His fate – this chap knows.

And the spider rests,
She is satiated.
And time has run.
Uncomplicated.
