I looked out my window this morning and saw the Twin Towers.
These towers stood for all people alike.
Businesses started out normal this day,
But something strange happened.
There was smoke in the air and screaming on the ground,
I saw what looked like a scene of a movie.
A plane collided with a tower as if it wasn't there.
As if that wasn't enough one by one they fell
Scattering and trapping those who were there.
When the dust settled and the air cleared the sight was surreal.
The towers were no longer there!
What happened today no one really knows.
Please God, let this be a dream. Please I pray!
But it's not a dream, as I feared!
So please God help us heal.
To those who are lost, I say I'm sorry
Despite you are gone, your heroics will be alive.
As America will remember this day of infamy
FOR ALL TIME, the DAY WHEN AMERICA was attacked!

Even after such a tragic event, the years tip toe by unnoticed, as we are force fed terrible news from every segment of this rock.
And as individuals we suffer losses, celebrate marriages and births, fall in and out of love, have good and bad hair days ...............
And all the while, the years tip toe by.
So ........ to read your words based upon this global, tragic, dramatic, (in the worse sense of the word),terrorist carnage ....... I applaud you for reminding us in a very literate and descriptive manner and without the need for an anniversary date.
Any friend/mentoree of my daughter Jenn's is certainly welcome here at Wondersmith West, especially with work related to such a world-impacting subject.
Feel free to share other pieces with us, Melissa, you'll find we're a pretty friendly and supportive group.
Everything that I write, whether it be a poem or a short story, comes from the heart. I just let my fingers do all the work. . Thank you. I cannot read that poem everytime I do I cry. That has to be the best one that i have written. You Seven and Sweet Propasal, which I will post, are good and heartfelt as well. But I don't think any can top that one.
It took me up until now , not to feel overly frightened from a plane flying over my head. Part of my heart died that day ,when I found out that planes filled with men , women and children would be used as weapons to hurt and kill other people.
For a long time I thought about the terror those aboard the planes faced and were locked into a hopeless situation.
No Way Out.
Same as those jumping from the building . They had a choice , burn up or death by jumping .
Your poem serves as an excellent reminder to pray to God for the healing that is still needed. It is greatly needed.
