February 14th
It’s absurd
Three small words
So tricky to say
Like lecturing a group
A flock of small birds
On the meaning of life
As they hover and swarm
On a warm summer’s day.
You know how I feel
I know you know.
I put flame to candle
Look deep into your eyes
Then like a Valentine’s vandal
I deny your surprise.
Tear rolls upon cheek
So softly you speak.
You grasp my hand
Tell me you understand.
Yet my failure upsets you
I know.
I cup your pretty face
I taste your restrained smile.
I drink your tear before it falls
My darling sweetness; so fragile.
As the candle fades
And moonlight takes over
And the wine is done
I become undone by your splendour.
Upon bended knee
I ask you to marry me
And like a flock of birds
You have no words
So I whisper to you
I love you.

Do you know what I'm expecting this year on Valentine's Day, my Dear Rusty? A new grandbaby! And I'll take my romance from your poem if you don't mind.
Just when I thought I was going to collapse under everything, you went and made me smile, heck laughed myself silly at this one... "Like lecturing a group/ A flock of small birds"... Its the simple truth, simply and sincerely. You're my hero Rusty
