A Spark Of Hope

The candlelight is burning low
as I listen to the radio.
The music floods across my ears,
singing words of yesteryear.
Shadows dance along the wall
as the rain outside begins to fall
from amid the twilight sky
into the veil of night.

Now the darkness has been long set in,
but still my mind is wanderin'
to a place and blessed time
when I was yours and you were mine.
When I held you close to me,
I made a promise silently
that I would never let you go
if there's a spark of hope.

I lay awake and think of you
and all the things that we've been through.
I don't think you could understand
how much you've lent a helping hand.
You've been my strength while I was down
and shown me things I'd never found.
You've seen my best and worst of days
and pulled my dreams out from the haze.

Now the darkness has been long set in,
but still my mind is wanderin'
to a place and blessed time
when I was yours and you were mine.
When I held you close to me,
I made a promise silently
that I would never let you go
if there's a spark of hope.

-No, I will never let you go
if there's a spark of hope.

Welcome to Wondersmith West, Valerie!

March 10 2007, 2:38 PM

I'm really glad you accepted my invitation to join us here, Valerie. When I read some of your poetry on MySpace I knew you belonged here too.

As I said, it's pretty quiet and private, but there actually are hundreds of visitors every week, whether they say anything or not.

I'm hoping some of our regulars will say hello and join me in welcoming you here now that they'll know you've been inivited.

Looking forward to seeing more of your work here as time goes by, and I hope you've enjoyed reading some of the other work posted here. Don't be shy about leaving a comment for anything, all right?

Love and Many Blessings,

Alice

I Hope

Hello Valerie

This may be a 'one off' emotional poem. It is excellently written and one can feel the emotion.

But I would encourage you to write more, your natural skills will grow with you.

Believe me.

Rusty
