This is maybe something every writer thinks about from time to time, although it was brought it my mind through reading a book with poetry quotations at the beginning of each chapter.
I'll give a link to the illustrated version, then put the plain text here in case the link doesn't work for some reason:
My Busy Pen Poem by Alice C. Bateman
With all the ads on here now centering doesn't always work, so I'll just put it plain:
My Busy Pen
Who will quote me and my busy pen
In a hundred more years or a hundred and ten
Will my work still live, continue to grow
Give solace to people that I'll never know
Comfort a lass who's just lost her lad
Soothe a young babe who's missing his Dad
Give hope to a woman who waits for her man
Bring light to a dark soul, as poetry can
Who will quote words that my pen has written
A friend for the lonely, hope for the smitten
Who will quote me when I'm dead and gone
From a poem or a book or a snippet of song
I'll never know but will be gratified
To know someone has laughed, grown thoughtful, or cried
From something I wrote, inspired from on high
Just now, in the wondering, I can't help but sigh
Who will quote me and my busy pen
In a hundred more years or a hundred and ten
Will my work still live, continue to grow
Give solace to people that I'll never know

Sorry about the ads, but the credit card that paid for this ad-free expired and I haven't replaced it as yet. The writing is all still excellent and much appreciated, ads or no ads.
Hope everyone is well and not too freezing cold during this February!
Love and Many Blessings,
Alice
