EDIT NOTE: This was Checkpoint 2 discussion. I changed the title since MadEye finished and nobody else seems interested in actually reading it.

Well, I've waited too long for the others to get the book and post (Way too long, I've already finished DWW, started and finished Dhampir, and now just started Thief of Lives last night lol!). I'm putting up checkpoint 2 before we have deserters lol!

Checkpoint 2 is a bit longer since we have so short chapters. Chapters 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, & 15 are what you need to have done. I'll give you three days, and the discussion starts Friday.

HEY!  Who is reading this book?  Is it just me and Chris?  Hello!!!!!! Anyone out there??????

Was anyone else sort of creeped out by her getting hot for Jenks the Pixy?  and I don't even want to think about Table 6.1.

Finished the book.  Clearly more books are planned because the of the ending status of the nemesis.  Anyone want to discuss this book?

Well, none else is reading, even though we had a drive by poster and two people tell me they would get it and catch up lol. So I'll discuss it! I'll just edit the title to this thread so people don't find spoilers by mistake.

What doy ou think that Trent is? Who do you think summoned the demons? I think Francis may have summoned the demons since he is the only death we know of that night. As for Trent, I'll have to find the e-mail I sent out to Kim asking her if I was close with my guess. I made a stab in the dark as to what he is, and then had a bunch of reasons backing it up. I won't say until I go through my sent folder and find it so I can say all my reasons. But I'm curious to see what you think.

Ok Chris, since total spoilers are ok, here goes.

I think that Trent is some kind of newly evolved being.  If he was one of the "common" being types, Jenks would have IDed him.  (perhaps he's been eating tomatoes all along...LOL)

I am not so sure Nick is OK...I'm not so sure Ivy is OK.

I think Keasley is a good guy.

The thing that really bothers me was the conversation between Ivy and Nick where he tells her he knows she's been living at the church all along.  It makes sense too...it was too perfect a set up.  BUT Keasley says she's only been there since the day before Ivy moved in.  Keasley seems like a good guy, so why would he lie?

Nick knows too much and gets what he needs too easily, it was too convenient that he was in the rat pit that night.  I don't know that he's a danger, but he's not what he says he is.

Oh! and I too think Francis summoned the demon.  It wouldn't have helped Ivy or Nick to see Rachel dead as far as I can see.

Nick, I'm not so sure is all that good and innocent. Hell I'd bet that they should probably be tagging him for something.

Ivy, I beleive, is good but has alterior motives. As for how she's been living there and nobody knows, that I bet was the leprachaun's wish granted to Ivy. I think that she wished her for people to forget she lived there for whatever hidden reason she had for living in a church.

As for Trent, I think he's an elf. They were supposed to be extinct as of like what, 40-50 years ago or so? So all the people of our generation wouldn't know how to spot one, and wouldn't know their sent. And, in a description when she was a mink, she described Trent as looking as he drew upon magic from the Ever After, or more acuratly like he drew upon the Ever After itself. Elves, if I remember correctly, used to live in the Ever After and come to our relm to steal children and then return to the Ever After until demons kicked them out. Well, we know from that Elves can physicaly go from the Ever After to our relm, and we know if they steal children they are probably not the nicest people around. Trent wasn't very nice was he lol? And, if he was hiding in the Ever After until the tomato scear dissapeared, like the smart man (or elf) that is Trent probably would do, he wouldn't have died with his race. But, a new species would make sense also. What do you think about the elf thing? I mean it would be a simple enough spell to hide his ears if Rach could alter her entire appearence, right?

Well, as we don't know what other creatures may be out there, anything is possible.  Elf always conjures up images of a smallish and sort of fragile looking creature (exept in LOTR) so Trent doesn't seem to fit the stereo-type to me.  But, who knows what he will turn out to be.  I think he'd a one of a kind and powerful enough to control others.  That guy who works for Trent seems like a creature of some kind.

I do really want to know more about Ivy.  I don't care to much for the interaction between Rachel and Ivy.  Rachael is so highly jumpy that you would think she'd get out.  She's not jumpy going into Trents place several times, but she freaks everytime Ivy flinches.  Its just too much, no matter what the reason. 

You could be right about the Keasley thing, but if Ivy used the leprechaun spell for that, I wonder what she had in mind and how long she was planning this.

Actually, from my understanding, a lot of fantasy books have elves more LOTRish.

I like the Rach/Ivy interaction, but not as much as other people do.
